There’s something genuinely moving about watching a child walk into the same world his parents have dedicated their lives to — especially when that child carries himself with such remarkable poise. Rahyl Deshmukh, the younger son of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza, is only 10 years old, and he’s already making his acting debut in one of India’s most ambitious historical films like Raja Shivaji.

The trailer of Raja Shivaji, unveiled at a grand Mumbai event on April 20, opens with a young boy speaking passionately about swaraj. That boy is Rahyl — and honestly, the moment is breathtaking.

A Whole Family, On One Screen

This is truly a family affair like few others in Bollywood history. Riteish plays the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj — a role he’s also written and directed — while Genelia steps into the role of his wife Saibai. And then there’s young Rahyl, born in 2016, portraying the young Maratha king with a natural confidence that has already left audiences stunned at the trailer launch. Genelia reportedly broke down in tears at the event, which says everything about how emotionally charged this project is for the entire family.

Rahyl’s elder brother Riaan, born in 2014, was not part of this particular film, but the Deshmukh family’s collective presence in Raja Shivaji makes it one of the most personal cinematic projects seen in recent times.

Why This Debut Matters?

Child actors making their debut in historically significant films carry a special kind of weight. Rahyl isn’t just appearing in a movie — he’s portraying one of India’s greatest warriors in his most formative years, alongside a cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, Bhagyashree, and Salman Khan in a special appearance. That is, by any measure, an extraordinary first film. For more Bollywood updates and rising star news, head to TechnoSports Entertainment.
