Raha Kapoor — The Tiny Star Who Turned a Legendary Filmmaker Into a Poet

Mahesh Bhatt is one of Bollywood’s most acclaimed filmmakers — a man of words, cinema, and deep philosophy. But ask him about his granddaughter Raha Kapoor, and even he runs out of adequate words. His latest interview is the sweetest thing you’ll read today.

Who Is Raha Kapoor?

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s daughter, Raha Kapoor, came into their lives in November 2022. She’s currently 4 years old — and already, she seems to have a personality that leaves everyone around her completely smitten.

What Did Mahesh Bhatt Say About Raha?

In a conversation with ETimes, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt said that Raha came into their lives like a drop of divinity. That’s a line straight out of a film, and yet, coming from a grandfather, it feels entirely real and earned.

He shared that just the thought of her brings a smile into every pore of his being, and called out her fierce vitality, saying her mind is sharp — almost evolutionary.

He went on to describe the feeling of watching Raha grow with a beautiful perspective on time and legacy: watching his daughter and her child gave him a sense of continuity — of life that has flowed for millennia and will continue long after.

And in the most endearing conclusion, the veteran filmmaker said that each grandfather rediscovers life through their grandchild, and that simply speaking to Raha is enough for a day.

The Family’s Recent Moments Together

On Alia’s 33rd birthday, the family visited Hong Kong’s Disneyland together. Days later, on their fourth wedding anniversary, Alia shared photos of Raha and Ranbir feeding alpacas in snow-capped mountains — a rare, candid glimpse of their private family life that the internet absolutely loved.
