Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection Day 28: Allu Arjun’s Blockbuster Nears ₹1800 Crore Worldwide, Targets Dangal’s Record

Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection Day 28: Released on December 5, Pushpa 2 features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles. The movie serves as a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise.

New Year’s Eve brought exceptional success for Pushpa 2: The Rule, with the film experiencing a significant boost in its box office collections. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the Allu Arjun-starrer raked in ₹7.65 crore on the day. The Telugu version recorded an overall occupancy of 15.51% across over 600 shows in India, while the Hindi version saw 19.15% occupancy with approximately 3,000 shows nationwide.

Breaking down the earnings, Pushpa 2 collected ₹1.17 crore in Telugu, ₹6.25 crore in Hindi, ₹20 lakh in Tamil, ₹2 lakh in Kannada, and ₹2 lakh in Malayalam. Its performance outpaced Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, released on Christmas and backed by Jawan director Atlee, nearly four times. With minimal competition in the coming weeks, Pushpa 2 is expected to surpass the ₹1,800 crore mark globally.

Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection Day 28: A New Year’s Bonanza; Milestones and Records

Released on December 5, with preview screenings on December 4, the film’s global gross over 25 days stands at ₹1,760 crore, as per updates from Mythri Movie Makers. Impressively, the Hindi version alone has contributed ₹1,100 crore, despite the film being originally made in Telugu. With this total, Pushpa 2 has already surpassed the record set by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and is now just ₹300 crore shy of Dangal’s ₹2,070.3 crore. If it surpasses this milestone, Pushpa 2 will become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

Controversy Surrounding Ticket Prices

The film’s earnings received a boost from increased ticket prices across Telangana until December 23. However, pricing has since returned to standard rates across the country. Despite its box office success, the makers faced criticism for allegedly monopolizing multiplexes. Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane and other industry producers voiced their concerns about the issue during a recent round table discussion hosted by Galatta Plus.
