The developers of the popular battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), PUBG Studios, have recently released a roadmap outlining what players can expect from the game in the near future and beyond.

The potential switch to a new game engine is perhaps the most significant change under consideration. According to PUBG Studios, the developer is testing the game on a new engine in order to ensure the game’s long-term viability. According to the studio, it is currently testing different options and attempting to port one of its maps to the new engine version.

However, the developer has cautioned that it is not yet clear whether this transition will be possible, but it is doing everything possible to make it happen. PUBG Studios has promised to provide updates as details are finalised.

PUBG Studios is also looking into the possibility of adding modding to the game, in addition to the potential engine switch.

This has been a popular feature request from fans, and if implemented, it will allow players to create and share game modes and maps.

Another feature under consideration is the addition of new destruction elements, which could bring the game to a new level of strategy. Players would be able to change their surroundings, adding a new dynamic to the classic PUBG gameplay formula.

Although not all of these challenges will be realised, the studio believes they are worthwhile to pursue and will inevitably usher in a new era for PUBG. The studio is hoping that players will join them on this exciting journey towards a more thrilling battle royale experience.

In the near future, PUBG Studios will concentrate on making standard PUBG matches less stressful and more enjoyable overall. By providing a variety of content in 2023, the developer hopes to reduce stress and increase enjoyment. Normal match improvements include increased item/Blue Zone/vehicle spawn rates, redesigned tactical gear, and the addition of a new revive system.

In terms of gunplay changes, PUBG Studios intends to strike a balance between 5.56mm and 7.62mm weapons in order to provide a more immersive experience. The studio is also considering adding under-barrel attachments and “resistance” to add new mechanics and interesting gameplay. This will allow players to make strategic decisions with weapons they haven’t used in a while, eventually leading to a variety of options tailored to each player’s playstyle.

A new map called Neon is one of the most exciting new features coming to PUBG in 2023. This map, described as one of the studio’s “biggest challenges,” aims to bring something new to the world of PUBG. This map was inspired by one of the most unique places on the planet, which combines modern and traditional elements.

The Neon map will include a variety of areas, ranging from a modern city full of gleaming skyscrapers to a more traditional rural area, creating a truly unique atmosphere not seen before in PUBG.

PUBG Studios also intends to improve its anti-cheat system in the future. Cheating has long been an issue in online multiplayer games, and PUBG is no exception.

The studio also intends to enhance the game’s social features, including the addition of a clan system that will allow players to join and create clans, communicate with other members, and participate in clan-related activities.

Furthermore, PUBG Studios is working to improve the tutorial system to make it easier for new players to learn the game’s mechanics. The team is also investigating ways to make the game more accessible to disabled players.

The roadmap post also mentions that PUBG Studios is improving the game with advanced machine learning systems. The developer is analysing gameplay data with machine learning algorithms to identify patterns and trends that can help improve the game’s balance and performance.
