Purchasing a PlayStation 5 (PS5) still seems to be challenging, and it isn’t only due to a lack of supply. While Sony would like to produce more PS5s, they are still offering a lot of them, since they recently reported that they have sold over 20 million units.
The PS4 was quicker to reach that milestone, but Sony is hoping that the Playstation 5 will catch up and surpass its predecessor by next year. Veronica Rogers, PlayStation’s vice president of global sales and business operations, says the company is planning a major increase in production this year to achieve this.
Sony and PS5
As per the sources, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is pleased to announce that more than 20 million PlayStation 5 consoles have been sold worldwide. Their teams have worked relentlessly since Playstation 5’s introduction to provide a truly next-gen gaming platform that has earned fans all around the world, and they would like to take this opportunity to thank the fans for their support.
Fan’s enthusiasm for the PlayStation brand motivates and encourages them to develop new technologies, engineer the future of gaming, and keep making the finest place to play possible.
Rest assured that they have been expecting a big ramp-up in Playstation 5 manufacturing this year and are working tirelessly to ensure that PlayStation 5 is available to everyone who wants one.
Due to better availability, the Xbox Series X/S has outsold the PS5 in recent months, despite Microsoft’s console not having as much buzz, therefore it’s up to Sony to start getting PS5s on shelves. And, hey, you have to allow people to purchase the original PS5 before the PS5 Pro is out.
