Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa OTT Release Date: Everything You Need to Know

The digital streaming platform and OTT release date of Khalifa have not been officially announced. Viewers should wait for confirmation from the filmmakers or an authorised streaming platform.

That said, JioHotstar has acquired the digital streaming rights to Khalifa. However, the exact OTT streaming date has not been officially announced yet.

Typically, Malayalam theatrical releases make their OTT debut anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks after their theatrical run concludes. Based on the film’s theatrical release on August 20, 2026, the OTT premiere on JioHotstar is expected sometime in October 2026, though no official date has been confirmed at the time of writing.

About the Film

Khalifa is a 2026 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Vysakh and written by Jinu V. Abraham, who also co-produced the film along with Suraj Kumar. The film will be released in two parts, with the first part set to hit theatres during Onam 2026.

Part I is titled Khalifa: The Intro, while the next part is titled Khalifa: His Reign.

Plot

Aamir Ali, a notorious gold smuggling kingpin who inherited his multi-million dollar criminal enterprise from a lineage of gangsters, is drawn into a web of vengeance, legacy and power. Directed by Vysakh, Khalifa is being mounted as a two-part theatrical sequence. The first chapter focuses on establishing Aamir Ali, his world, and the forces surrounding him, while leaving the larger conflict to unfold in the second chapter.

Prithviraj Sukumaran: The Man Behind Khalifa

Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the most versatile and prolific stars in Indian cinema, with a career spanning over two decades across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. He is also an accomplished director and producer. In Khalifa, Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Aamir Ali, a man who becomes entangled in a complex world of revenge, influence, and gold smuggling operations.

Vysakh is known for handling large-scale commercial movies, so expectations are naturally high when he teams up with Prithviraj.

The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the title role alongside Neil Nitin Mukesh in his Malayalam debut, Malvika Sharma, Shammi Thilakan and Indrans in supporting roles, alongside Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas and Soubin Shahir in cameo appearances.

Khalifa was released worldwide on August 20, 2026, in Malayalam alongside Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages, coinciding with Onam weekend. The film grossed Rs 5.35 crore in India on its opening day and Rs 13.2 crore worldwide. Malayalam-speaking regions were the main source of revenue for the film, while the Tamil and Telugu versions sold poorly. On its fourth day of release, the film grossed approximately Rs 27.68 crore worldwide.
