Pokémon Pokopia leak reveals underwater DLC’s release date

Nintendo Switch 2 building simulator fans got a major surprise with a trailer leak that suggests Pokémon Pokopia will launch its first major expansion on August 5, 2026. This was first reported by Polygon. The upcoming add-on is expected to bring in new aquatic exploration mechanics to the post-apocalyptic island builder.

The leaked promo material hints at a significant content drop aimed at bridging the gap to future franchise entries. Players can look forward to new water-type creatures, special furniture sets, and coastal outfits designed for the new aquatic biome. This expansion acts as a sneak peek at gameplay mechanics anticipated in the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Waves titles.

Overview of the Pokémon Pokopia Leak

Source and credibility of the leak

Details about the leak emerged from an unlisted promotional trailer that quickly circulated through online communities earlier this week. Industry observers pointed out that the production quality aligns with previous official Nintendo promotional content. Although publisher representatives haven’t commented officially on the leaked footage, the specific dates seem to fit well with earlier product roadmaps.

Key features hinted at in the DLC

The expansion pack, titled Bubbly Basin, focuses heavily on maritime exploration and resource gathering. Leaked production notes suggest that the classic series move, Dive, will be part of a complimentary system update for all players. Additionally, cosmetic items like decorative ties, aviation-style wings, and custom headwear will be included in the premium tier of the content offering.

Expected release date and its implications

The Bubbly Basin expansion is rumored to launch on August 5, 2026, with a price tag of $34.99 for the full expansion pass. This single purchase will grant access to the August release and two additional post-launch updates. The second part of the pass is expected in late 2026, while a final update in 2027 promises a brand-new settlement to explore.

Community reactions and speculations

Fans took to social media to discuss whether the aquatic update will introduce rare shiny variants for the new water-type creatures. Metrics from digital storefronts in March 2026 indicate that the base game has already sold over 4 million units worldwide. This sales milestone could firmly place the building game among the top five best-performing software releases on current-generation hardware.
