Google Pixel 8 Pro Dominates DxOMark Display Rankings

Google‘s Pixel 8 Pro, renowned for its impressive camera capabilities, has now also etched a prominent place in the realm of displays, earning high praise from DxOMark. What’s even more surprising is that the standard Pixel 8 has notched up similar achievements, securing the highest score for a smartphone display. These remarkable feats extend to both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, positioning them as leaders in the premium and ultra-premium categories.

The Display Dominance by Google Pixel 8 Pro

Diving into the technical aspects of the Pixel 8 Pro, there is a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels. This display boasts a high 120Hz refresh rate and is fortified with the robust protection of Corning Glass Victus 2. The real star of the show is its remarkable peak brightness of 2,400 nits, which propels the Pixel 8 Pro to a score of 162 for readability, according to DxOMark.

In fact, it claims the title of the most readable device thus far, excelling notably in outdoor settings and even under direct sunlight. Furthermore, the device clinches an impressive score of 164 in the color category, ensuring accurate skin tones under diverse lighting conditions and delivering vivid, visually captivating renditions of photos. However, despite its stellar performance in HDR10 playback, the Pixel 8 Pro might not be the absolute best choice for those indulging in darker content in low-light settings.

That said, the device’s display maintains an overall sense of smoothness, with only minor frame mismatches observed and a slight reduction in smoothness noticed during intense gaming sessions. To delve deeper into the comprehensive evaluation results, one can refer to DxOMark’s detailed analysis. This newfound display excellence underscores Google’s commitment to providing holistic smartphone solutions that excel not only in one aspect but across a spectrum of domains.
