What Is Season 3 Based On?
The third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on The Titan’s Curse, the third instalment of Disney Hyperion’s bestselling book series by acclaimed author Rick Riordan. The stakes are higher than ever before as Percy is faced with the sudden disappearance of Annabeth and the impending Great Prophecy provided by the Oracle of Delphi, dictating the fate of Olympus.
Season 3 is the first onscreen adaptation of Rick Riordan’s The Titan’s Curse, book three in the five-part Percy Jackson series. The previous film franchise made it only as far as the second book, making this a genuinely historic moment for fans who have been waiting years to see this story told on screen.
Official Season 3 Synopsis
The official synopsis for Season 3 reads: “When Annabeth is captured by the forces of Kronos, Percy must embark on a perilous journey to rescue her. He must free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse, and avoid triggering the fall of Olympus. With Grover by his side, Percy must join some unlikely questmates to confront a prophecy with dire consequences.”
As foretold by the Oracle of Delphi, one demigod child of the “Big Three” is fated to raise Olympus to new heights or bring it crashing into ruin, with their own life hanging in the balance.
The Great Prophecy and the Titan War Begin
The third season will see Olympus and Camp Half-Blood preparing for a war with the Titans; Percy must reckon with saving the world and burgeoning young love.
Executive producer Craig Silverstein and star Walker Scobell explicitly warned that this will be the darkest chapter yet, noting that the war with Kronos is officially kicking off and people are dying.
“It’s definitely our darkest season yet,” Scobell told Entertainment Weekly.
Returning Cast
The cast includes Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Dafne Keen as the goddess Artemis. Also returning for Season 3 are Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Daniel Diemer as Tyson, and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue.
Daughter of Zeus Thalia Grace, played by Tamara Smart, was officially introduced at the end of Season 2 and returns in full force this season.
The Major New Characters: The Di Angelo Siblings
In the new season, fans will meet two more major characters: Nico and Bianca di Angelo. The di Angelo siblings are children of Hades. All three are children of the Big Three gods and will call into question Percy’s place with the great prophecy.
Bianca is played by Olive Abercrombie (The Haunting of Hill House, Mayfair Witches). Nico is played by Levi Chrisopulos (FBI).
New Gods and Villains Joining the Universe
New characters will also be introduced to the Greek mythology universe, including Levi Chrisopulos as Nico di Angelo, Olive Abercrombie as Bianca di Angelo, Saara Chaudry as Zoë Nightshade, Hubert Smielecki as Apollo, Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite, and Ming-Na Wen as Hera.

Olympian royalty and villains are also locked in, with the legendary Kate McKinnon gracing the screen as Aphrodite, Holt McCallany playing the Titan Atlas, and David Costabile set to bring the menacing Dr. Thorn to life.

The Trailer: What We Saw
In the trailer, Percy grapples with a dream about The Great Prophecy. “Something bad is coming,” he says over voiceover.
A first-look teaser revealed the design of the sky that Titan Atlas is cursed to hold up for eternity, but it was Percy Jackson bearing the heavy burden.
In the third season’s opening, which was screened for SDCC attendees, we see Thalia Grace battling a monster in a parking garage. Percy joins her to help defeat the monster, though Thalia is visibly annoyed and says she doesn’t need his help. Once the demigods win the battle, Annabeth appears and admits she asked Percy to come as the two of them need Thalia’s help to rescue two demigods — presumably Nico and Bianca di Angelo — and take them to Camp Half-Blood.
In the teaser, they also revealed that in Season 3, fans can expect new demigods, the Hunters of Artemis, and “A Titan who has been waiting a very long time to make his move.”
