Why Was Patriot Postponed?
The film had originally been slated for April 23, 2026, but was pulled just days before its release. Producer Anto Joseph cited unforeseen circumstances, though reports indicated the film had also been reportedly blacklisted by the exhibitors’ union in Kerala — adding an unexpected layer of industry drama to the film’s journey to theatres. Thankfully, that storm appears to have passed, and May 1 brings a fresh start.
The Reunion Kerala Has Been Waiting For
What makes Patriot truly special isn’t just its spy thriller premise built around a controversial intelligence mission — it’s the fact that Mammootty and Mohanlal are sharing the screen together after nearly a decade. For Malayalam cinema fans, that alone is reason enough to book tickets the moment they go live.
The supporting cast is no less impressive, bringing together Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, and Revathi in significant roles. With music from the talented Sushin Shyam, all ingredients of a big-screen spectacle are firmly in place.
What’s Next for Both Stars?
Both legends remain as busy as ever. Mammootty recently wrapped Padayaatra with director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and is currently working on the Dhanush-starrer D55, alongside Mattancherry Mafia in the pipeline. Mohanlal, meanwhile, is prepping for Drishyam 3 — releasing May 21, 2026 to mark his 66th birthday — and is also deep into filming L366 with director Tharun Moorthy.
