Patriot Box Office: Mollywood’s Biggest Reunion Is Sadly Becoming Its Biggest Disappointment

The much-hyped Malayalam spy thriller had all the ingredients for a blockbuster — two megastars, a strong ensemble, and massive pre-release buzz. But the numbers are telling a very different story.

Patriot Kerala Box Office: Day-Wise Collections

Malayalam film Patriot added Rs. 2.20 crore on Day 6, taking its 6-day cumulative total to Rs. 25.75 crore gross at the Kerala box office.

The brutal reality? Collections have flatlined since Day 4. There’s no recovery in sight on weekdays.

A Film That Was Tipped for Rs. 100 Crore — Now Struggling for Rs. 50 Crore

Patriot was earlier seen as a potential Rs. 100 crore grosser in Kerala, but now it is even struggling to reach the Rs. 50 crore gross mark. The film is looking to close its first week at around Rs. 27 crore — an underwhelming total for a film of this stature.

That’s a brutal reality check for a film headlined by two of the biggest names in Indian cinema.

The Mahesh Narayanan directorial needs to pick up significantly in the second weekend to reach a respectable total. But with collections stalling on weekdays, that turnaround feels unlikely unless strong word-of-mouth kicks in hard.

Why the Hype Was So High?

Patriot marks the reunion of Mollywood’s two giants, Mohanlal and Mammootty, after nearly 18 years. The film also boasts a powerhouse ensemble including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Revathy — making it arguably the most star-studded Malayalam film in recent memory.

Yet big names alone clearly aren’t enough to drive repeat footfalls.

What’s Next for Malayalam Cinema?

The next big release from Malayalam cinema is Drishyam 3, and it will be interesting to see whether the Mohanlal starrer can stand true to its franchise’s cult status. After Patriot’s underwhelming run, Mollywood fans will be desperately hoping the Drishyam franchise delivers.
