2016 marked an unprecedented year when the impossible and unthinkable happened. Underdogs Leicester City emerged from the ashes of being nearly relegated, to put together a superb effort which saw them lift the title at the end of it.
Across the gameweeks, many experts tipped them to fall off or lose momentum which would have seen one of the Big Six clubs take home the championship. But that did not happen, and Claudio Ranieri’s men gave it their everything and broke the shackles to do so. However, nearly 5 seasons on, can the Foxes do it once again and repeat history?
Leicester head into the international break on the back of a 1-0 win against Wolves. They have won 6 games so far and sit top of the table with 18 points after eight matches being played.
Brendan Rodgers has done a good job in recent times building a capable squad with relatively lesser financial resources and smart scouting abilities. However, there has been scepticism and criticism of his management style and motivation.
At the end of the day, Leicester do not have a consistent track record of winning the bigger trophies year in and out. Rodgers who once coached Liverpool had a great chance to win the league with them in 2014 but ultimately surrendered with a meek challenge.
Even last season, they were right in the race for a Champions League spot and had built great ground ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. But the players just couldn’t get into the right frame of mind and coupled with the pandemic uncertainties, they were left reeling with 5th and had to contend with a Europa League place.
Leicester albeit very talented and creative, have lesser experienced players compared to their 2015/16 squad. That might see them struggle to notch up results in crunch games, and their morale could go the other way.
So all in all while Leicester are definitely a fabulous contender and their league win achievement will always be remembered by everyone in the footballing community, it might just be tough this time around with a close title race in the works and rivals continually improving to produce wins as well.
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is considering a loan move in January. The English goalkeeper has featured only in 3 games this season, two games in Carabao Cup, and one in UEFA Champions League. As per reports, England boss Garry Southgate has told him that he must get more game time to be considered as England’s goalkeeper in the upcoming Euro which is postponed until next year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dean Henderson is eyeing his place in England’s Euro squad. So, he may ask his club for a loan move in January till the end of the season.
If Dean Henderson finally leaves the club in January on a loan then a situation will arise where Manchester United will need to rely on Sergio Romero as their backup goalkeeper again. The relation between the club and the Argentinian goalkeeper has not been good in the last couple of months. Sergio Romero was not even included in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League squad.

The full 23-race Formula 1 season calendar for 2021 has been revealed!
Finally some good news for Formula 1 fans after the dreadful year of 2020. F1 could arrange only 13 of the planned 17 races of the 2020 season and 12 of them happened without fans which led to a massive loss.
The season is expected to start in Australia on March 21. But the calendar will not include the much-anticipated and hyped inaugural race in Vietnam.
The British Grand Prix will be held on July 18 next year to avoid a clash with the Wimbledon men’s singles final and football’s Euro 2020 final at Wembley. The intended round in Hanoi is off due to political complications. Police have arrested Hanoi’s People’s Committee chairman Nguyen Duc Chung for the alleged appropriation of ‘documents containing state secrets’.
That vacancy is expected to be filled with a race at Imola or Istanbul. Portimao, in the Algarve, is an alternative, but it is doubtful whether they have the infrastructure to accommodate a GP with a full quota of fans.
An F1 spokesman said: ‘We will not comment on the provisional calendar until it is made public and confirmed.’

Formula 1 reported a $115 million loss this quarter due to races without fans. The loss was for a three-month period which ended on September 30 despite record quarterly revenues of $597 million.
The Bundesliga is the top tier of professional football in Germany and is one of the biggest leagues in the world. While they say that there is no small team in Germany, the modern game is heavily influenced by the financial aspect as well.
Keeping that in mind, here are the top ten most valuable teams in the Bundesliga.
10. Schalke 04 (€171.55 million)

Despite their dismal performance in 2020, Schalke are placed tenth in terms of the most valuable team in Bundesliga by squad value. Their most valuable asset in these trying times is the 20-year-old centre back Ozan Kabak at €29 million.

Hoffenheim is an extremely small village in Germany, but have a pretty big football club now. They were the first team to beat Bayern Munich in 2020, achieving something that many top clubs in Europe could not. Striker Andrej Kramaric is the biggest star at the club and is valued at €27 million.
6. Hertha Berlin (€234.64 million)
Despite being valued at about four times that of their city rivals Union Berlin, Hertha find themselves placed 12th in the table with 7 points from as many games. Their highest valued player is Matteo Guendouzi, on loan from Arsenal. However, Matheus Cunha is the most valuable permanent Hertha Berlin player at €22 million.
5. Borussia Mönchengladbach (€313.43 million)
The Foals managed to make it to the Champions League this season and currently sit at the top of Group B on the back of a 6-0 spanking of Shakhtar Donetsk. Denis Zakaria is the most valuable Gladbach player at €40 million, followed by Marcus Thuram and Nico Elvedi at €32 million each.

Despite losing two of their most prized assets in Kai Havertz and Kevin Volland this summer, Leverkusen are amongst the biggest clubs in the country. Winger Moussa Diaby is currently their most valuable player at €32 million.
3. RB Leipzig (€514.58 million)
Despite being around for only 11 years, RB Leipzig have forced their way into the title picture of the Bundesliga and have successfully stretched the ‘Big 4’ of the Bundesliga to the ‘Big 5’. Julian Naagelsmann’s highest-valued player is Dayot Upamecano at €60 million.

Dortmund always seem destined to finish behind Bayern Munich in every single competition and can be called the nice guys of the game. Their most valuable asset, to nobody’s surprise, is Jadon Sancho at €117 million while Erling Haaland follows the Englishman at €80 million.

The international break will allow the right-back to rest without missing games for his club, while Gareth Southgate will have to turn to the various other options at right-back to play the national fixtures.
It is stipulated that the defender will miss games against Brighton, Wolves and Leicester in the Premier League while also sitting out the CL matches against Atalanta and Ajax.
He could be back in time for Liverpool’s trip to London against Fulham.
Possible Solutions to the Problem
James Milner has the ability to play any outfield position on the pitch. The 34-year-old could surely fill in for Alexander-Arnold for the next five fixtures.
However, Klopp also has the option of playing Neco Williams, the 19-year-old Welshman, who is a natural right-back and has featured for the club in cup ties.
Liverpool’s injury crisis could prevent them from achieving the levels of success that they hit last season, and it will certainly make retaining the Premier League title much more difficult.
However, as Jurgen Klopp has shown time and time again, it is never too late for the Merseyside club to make a stunning comeback.
