BCCI declares the revenue generated from IPL 2020

Indian Premier League 2020 ended just a few days ago and Mumbai Indians became the champion for the record 5th times this year. BCCI recently announced the super successful 13th season of IPL.

In an interview to Indian Express, BCCI declared that the board has earned almost 4000 Cr. They even reduced the cost by 35%. Viewership also increased by 25%.

BCCI member Arun Dhumal said, “The Board managed to cut nearly 35 percent of the cost as compared to the last IPL. We earned Rs 4,000 crore during the pandemic time. Our TV viewership went about 25 percent higher, we got the highest-ever opening game (Mumbai Indians versus Chennai Super Kings) viewership. Those who doubted us came and thanked us for hosting the IPL. Had this IPL not happened, cricketers would have lost one year.”

Dhumal also revealed that BCCI was about to cancel the IPL this year after Novak Djokovic tested positive. He said, “After that report (about Djokovic testing positive) came in, we were in two minds. Many people told us to not go ahead with it (IPL). What if something happens to a player? The IPL would go on for almost three months. However, Jay said we should go ahead, he was more confident than all of us.”

The official broadcaster of IPL, Star India also thanked BCCI for this immense success. Sports Head of Star India Sanjog Gupta said, “Season 13 witnessed innovative programming, world-class production – both remote and on-ground.”

The great success of IPL in this pandemic situation describes the strength and acceptability of the tournament.

Ibrahimovic leads Serie A scoring charts but will miss upcoming games

0

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still one of the best strikers in the world. Any doubt regarding the Swede’s ability, and his ‘decline due to ageing’ has been silenced by the AC Milan striker in his 6 games for the club in Serie A.

The fact that Zlatan is 39 years old is unbelievable given that he has scored 10 goals already and leads the Serie A scoring charts, all alone at the top.

Zlatan managed to break a personal record with his first-half brace against Napoli that eventually ended 3-1 in favour of the visitors.

The forward has now managed to score in eight straight Serie A games when those from last season are included. With a career spanning decades, the fact that he can still achieve this shows how amazing Zlatan truly is.

Milan managed to hold on to their spot at the top of the Serie A table as they took all three points from Naples, The Rossoneri currently have 20 points from 8 games, and are still unbeaten in the league.

Their only defeat in the 20/21 campaign was at the hands of Lille in the Europa League, a match that they lost 3-0.

Despite that, the team’s run of form since the get-go has managed to put them as one of the frontrunners for the Europa League title this season.

While his performances on the pitch might not show any signs of rust, the immensely packed schedule is catching up to the 39-year-old. Zlatan collapsed in a heap in the second half of the Napoli match and went off the pitch limping.

The club now fears that their talisman could be out for a month, and would miss vital fixtures for the club. However, Milan will be hoping for the return of Rafael Leao from injury to help out with the attack. The Rossoneri face Lille in the Europa League in midweek before hosting Fiorentina over the weekend.

Stats prove why Diogo Jota has been the best signing of the summer for Liverpool

0

When the summer transfer window slammed shut, Thiago’s signing was heralded as the greatest piece of business done by Liverpool. While the Spaniard’s recruitment is no doubt a brilliant addition to the club, the midfielder himself has been missing in action.

On the other hand, Diogo Jota has been absolutely sensational since joining the reds. So much so that he has made the once-irreplaceable trio of Salah-Mane-Firmino look mortal.

Jota has scored 8 goals for Liverpool, including the Premier League and Champions League. He has also managed to become the first-ever Liverpool player to score in his first four home appearances for the club.

While his signing was not the most-talked-about during the summer, Jota has proven to be one of the best signings made by any club this season. It almost seems as if the Portuguese was born to play under Klopp, the way he fits in so well.

Jota managed to head in a slick cross by Robertson to beat Schmeichel and give the hosts a 2-0 lead in the first half. Roberto Firmino’s header from a corner saw the Champions bury the game 3-0 in their favour.

Jota came through the ranks at Pacos Ferreira in Portugal before joining Atletico Madrid. He was then signed by Wolves in 2017, initially on a loan deal, before permanently signing him a year later. He went on to feature 131 times for the Midlands club, scoring 44 and assisting 19.

The 23-year-old currently finds himself as one of the best players in the Premier League with Liverpool. Jota’s superb performance was key to sending Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League table, although they are behind Spurs via goal difference.

If the Portuguese forward manages to play as brilliantly as he has since the start of the season going forward, he will no doubtedly become vital for the Reds in their first title defense. For all we know, he might be a guaranteed starter by the end of the season!

Koeman rests Messi and De Jong for the trip to Kiev

Ronald Koeman has called up 19 players for match day four in the Champions League group stage

Barcelona has been suffering a bad form in their own league and indeed this is the worst situation ever for the Blaugranas. However, their Champions League situation looks good as they sit top of the table and with a win they will surely secure their place for the Champions League knockout stage.

Also, they have some matches left and so the Dutch coach has rested two of its main players Messi and De Jong, who were part of the last 1-0 defeat against Atletico de Madrid. FC Barcelona will be visiting Dynamo Kiev this Tuesday with a 9.00pm CET kick-off time.

Here’s the club statement:

Ronald Koeman has decided to call up 19 players for this match, which will be played at the Kiev Olympic Stadium. They are: Ter Stegen, Dest, Aleñá, Griezmann, Pjanic, Braithwaite, O. Dembélé, Riqui Puig, Neto, Coutinho, Lenglet, Pedri, Trincao, Jordi Alba, Matheus, Junior, Iñaki Peña, O. Mingueza and Konrad. Piqué, Ansu Fati, Sergi Roberto, Umtiti, Sergio and Araujo are out through injury, whilst De Jong and Messi have been rested for this match. Koeman explained these two absences by saying that the players “need a break.”

This will be a great chance for the Barca youngsters as a lot of players remain injured but their main problem lies with Sergi Roberto’s and Pique’s long term injury that can weaken their defence, with Araujo and Umtiti also injured, Barcelona’s back line looks thinner than usual.

Obviously, saving his two main players is a good move by Koeman and this means De Jong’s role is up for grabs by young Aleñá or Riqui Puig. Whereas Pique’s role could be taken by Barca B players and for Messi, Trincao or Coutinho can play in. It will be a more young Barca to look forward to on Tuesday against Dynamo Kiev.

WhatsApp reportedly testing the read-later feature

0

WhatsApp has been working diligently to offer features that give more control in users’ hands. The company’s Vacation Mode entered the beta testing phase last year, but the company seemed to have ditched the idea for now anyway. But, earlier this year, the instant messaging platform resumed work on it. According to sources, a new read-later feature is expected to replace the current archived chats feature in WhatsApp’s future versions.

Sources claim that the feature was first spotted in the company’s iOS application. The new feature was available in the beta version 2.20.130.16 for iOS. But, beta users do not have access to the functionality of this feature yet.

The new read-later feature is just as the name suggests. The chats that will be marked as read later on WhatsApp won’t show a notification every time a new message or media has been sent. According to the company, the user will have more control over it with the help of vacation mode. When the vacation mode is turned off, the read-later chats will behave in the same way as archived chats.

According to sources, the new Read Later feature will get a prominent spot on top of all the other chats. Though there are also rumors making rounds, WhatsApp will provide an option to hide chats at the bottom. Though the new feature is in the works, it is still not ready for beta testers yet, but it has been tested more often in the past few months. All this suggests that WhatsApp is planning to roll it out very soon and beta testers might taste it in the coming weeks.

U.K. government saves OneWeb from bankruptcy

0

The coronavirus pandemic has hit the world’s economic sector pretty hard, and due to which many businesses have either shut down or gone bankrupt. Recently the satellite operator OneWeb that was reported to have gone bankrupt was saved by the British administration.

The takeover is $1 billion and involves a collaboration between India’s Bharti Global and U.K.’s Boris Johnson government. It has been demanding more flexibility on state aid for companies in its talks with the European Union, and this intervention shows how serious the U.K. government is.

OneWeb was established in 2012 to build a constellation of small satellites. It raised $3.4 billion from Softbank Group Corp., Airbus S.E., and other big names. But the lead investors pulled their money at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, which led to the company going bankrupt.

But due to the increase in remote broadband services, there is massive growth in the market of inflight Wi-Fi, the industrial internet, cloud networks, and autonomous vehicles. We already know that Elon Musk is busy deploying his satellite internet system, Starlink, and Amazon.com Inc.’s Jeff Bezos also has similar plans.

“It’s brave, and not without risk, but it’s a good deal and will help position the U.K. as a global leader in communications for the 21st century,” stated Stuart Martin, chief executive officer Satellite Applications Catapult. Many in the parliament had their doubts regarding the deal, but OneWeb already has 74 satellites in space.

And now that billions of dollars have been written off on its name by the government, the company plans to resume satellite launches from next month. Bharti, the main collaborator with the U.K. administration, has over 400 million customers. It plans on using OneWeb’s network to connect more remote areas.

David Beckham is earning more by featuring in FIFA 21 than by playing football

0

EA Sports has officially revealed David Beckham as the cover star of FIFA 21 next-gen edition. Now, you’ll have the chance to play and score freekicks with David Beckham in FIFA 21. Beckham will be available in both FIFA Ultimate Team and Volta.

David Beckham is one of the most popular and famous football players. His trademark freekicks are still fresh in the memory of all the football lovers. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star and current Inter Miami CF co-owner David Beckham has come to a multi-year ambassadorial agreement with the organization.

According to a report by The Mirror, David Beckham is earning more playing in a football computer game than he did kicking a ball for real.

The 45-year-old has signed a £40million three-year deal with EA Sports to appear in the FIFA 21 game.

A source said: “FIFA makers EA Sports offered him £30million over three years but he managed to get a better deal. It is a big addition to the Beckham brand and the easiest money he’s ever made.”

Beckham retired in 2013 before playing for some of the biggest clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

He was one of the game’s highest earners during his time. He earned £100,000 a week at Old Trafford and clinched a £25million five-year deal in his move to LA Galaxy. But this £40million three-year deal with EA Sports is probably the easiest money he got, more than even playing actual football.

How to get David Beckham for free in FIFA 21?

You can get your hands on an untradeable, one-of-a-kind David Beckham to play in FUT or take Beckham back to the street as a Groundbreaker in VOLTA FOOTBALL. You just have to play FIFA 21 by 15th January 2021. The campaign will start on 15th December. The David Beckham item is a celebration of the legendary English midfielder’s LaLiga debut for Real Madrid in the 03/04 season.

David Beckham will also be joining the squad of ICONS in FUT 21 on 4th December. His ICON ratings will be revealed on 27th November.

ISL 2020-21: Everything you need to know about the Kolkata Derby on 27th November

After a long wait, SC East Bengal is finally going to make their debut in this year’s Indian Super League along with their counterpart Mohun Bagan. But interestingly, their journey will start with a derby, the Kolkata Derby. SC East Bengal will take on ATK Mohun Bagan FC in their opening match of this ISL season.

SC East Bengal has tied up with Shree Cements to participate in the ISL. Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan has merged with 3 time ISL champions ATK and is now known as ATK Mohun Bagan FC.

This is the first time that a city is being represented by two clubs in ISL. The two Kolkata giants ATKMB and SCEB are the torch bearers of Indian football with their rich legacy.

The top flight of Indian football, Indian Super League will witness its first Kolkata Derby, also referred to as the ‘Boro Match’. The derby will take place on 27th November at 7:30 pm IST. The match will be played at Tilak Maidan Stadium in Goa.

Although the match will be played behind closed doors, there’s no drop in excitement as the die-hard Lal Holud and Sobuj Maroon fans will stick in front of their TVs supporting their beloved clubs. The whole of India will get a taste of the Kolkata Derby on a large scale.

The Calcutta Derby ends up with a 2-2 draw

The cold war between the two managers has already started. SC East Bengal boss, Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler said, “We know how tough any game would be. But for us to get the reigning champions and to get a massive derby out of the way is something to train for. It’s a massive game for our players and we can’t wait. We will be looking forward to it.”

“All we can do is get the team as ready as we can. We really will be ready. No pressure on our boys. We are new boys in the league. Let’s put all the pressure on ATK Mohun Bagan”.

Meanwhile, ATK Mohun Bagan boss Antonio Habas said to ease the pressure from his side: “We are here to play against not only East Bengal but all the other nine teams. So, the fixture doesn’t matter as we are preparing ourselves for every encounter.”

ATKMB has already made a winning start to their ISL 2020-21 campaign. They beat Kerala Blasters FC 1-0 courtesy Roy Krishna’s goal. They are a seasoned campaigner with lots of experience of winning the ISL.

It will be interesting how SC East Bengal will line up and play against their biggest rival in their ISL debut match. A lot will be at stake as winning the Kolkata Derby will provide added confidence to the winning team and may even push then to lift the trophy at the end.
