Will India manage to win the third ODI or will the Aussies whitewash the series?

0

After India’s twin losses at the Sydney Cricket Ground, there is one match left for them to protect a tiny bit of their integrity. Apart from the hosts creating new records and India’s improved batting performance in the second ODI, there was not much to differentiate between the opening two fixtures of India’s 2020-21 tour of Australia.

As Australia made their highest ODI total against India, India’s improvement in the batting department was overshadowed by a more inferior bowling display. During this, they handed captain Virat Kohli his third successive series loss across formats.

The third ODI will be played on December 2 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, as will the first two T20s.

Some of the reasons why the hosts could embarrass the Indians so easily was because India has been absent from international cricket for a longer time than the Australians who defeated England 2-1 in an ODI series, just before the start of the Indian Premier League.

Another reason for India’s huge loss was the absence of hitman Rohit Sharma. Chasing targets like 375 and 390, India would need a huge boost from the opening batsmen. Who better than the man with three ODI double centuries to open in India’s batting lineup. Replacing him is youngster Mayank Agarwal who hasn’t quite fulfilled his role stepping in for the Indian veteran.

India’s top scorers – Virat Kohli and KL Rahul – consumed a lot more dot balls than the Aussies who were regularly rotating strike, navigating gaps and hitting the occasional boundaries.

Had the Indian bowlers been more careful, there might have been level competition. Hardik Pandya, who is still recovering from his back injury, bowled four overs and dismissed Steve Smith for 104. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also conceded the most number of runs ever by an Indian spinner in an ODI, breaking his own record by giving away 89 crucial runs.

It will be a good opportunity for India to allow players like T Natarajan, Manish Pandey and Kuldeep Yadav to showcase their talents ahead of the three-match T20 series. Unless India puts up a mammoth total batting first and the bowlers manage to pick up wickets early on, Australia is all set to whitewash India in this ODI bilateral series in their home ground for the first time in the history of the game.

FIFA Secretary General Discusses world football disruption, impact of FIFA COVID-19 relief plan and wokeness at World Football Summit Live

In an interview led by South African broadcaster Carol Tshabalala, Fatma Samoura spoke about the effect the Covid-19 virus has had on football

ZURICH, Switzerland, November 30, 2020/ — FIFA’s Secretary General Fatma Samoura took part in the closing session of the World Football Summit Live today in a wide-ranging discussion that covered disruption, wokeness and the impact of the FIFA Covid-19 Relief Plan on global football.

In an interview led by South African broadcaster Carol Tshabalala, Fatma Samoura spoke about the effect the Covid-19 virus has had on football and the measures FIFA has taken to preserve and protect the game worldwide during this difficult time through the FIFA Covid-19 Relief Plan.

“The FIFA Covid-19 Relief Plan was created to help our MAs and the six Confederations tackle the challenges that the pandemic is throwing at them via the distribution of USD 1.5 billion in relief funds. The plan is truly ground-breaking and was designed to show football solidarity in action through a USD 1 million grant for each MA so that they can protect and restart football. Additionally, they will all receive an extra USD 500,000, specifically allocated for women’s football and can apply for interest-free loans of up to USD 5 million.”

Speaking about the topic of disruption the FIFA Secretary General emphasized her belief in it as an engine that can drive change and highlighted the many positive changes that FIFA has undergone since the crisis it experienced in 2015 including: the creation of an Audit and Compliance Committee, to advise, assist and oversee the FIFA Council in monitoring all of FIFA’s financial and compliance matters, as well as monitoring compliance with the FIFA Governance Regulations and the flow of development-related funds; the establishment of FIFA’s first-ever Compliance Sub-Division to protect the integrity of football; robust eligibility checks of candidates for all FIFA bodies and a bulletproof bidding process for the Men’s and Women’s FIFA World Cups.

On the topic of wokeness Fatma Samoura referred to FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s game-changing decision to appoint a woman as FIFA’s Secretary General and underlined that gender diversity is in action at FIFA, its committees and its 211 MAs. She stressed FIFA’s commitment to furthering women’s football with investments of 1 billion USD for the 2019-2022 cycle and the work undertaken by its Women’s Football Division, that has held over 500 online sessions with MAs worldwide, to support them in protecting the women’s game during the pandemic.

She also highlighted FIFA’s wokeness spirit through its recognition of the global problem of racism: “I believe that FIFA’s response to the tragic death of George Floyd earlier this year really showed that we have become a modern organization, with its finger on the pulse of issues that matter and is truly woke. Of course, wokeness is an ongoing process but I am proud to say that at FIFA there is more diversity, understanding and willingness to use football as a tool for positivity than ever before.”

In concluding their discussion, the FIFA Secretary General referred to how the global pandemic has provided an opportunity to reshape the world of football saying: “Although this year has put the world into a state of semi-hibernation, I believe that it has simultaneously provided us all with an opportunity to awaken ourselves to what is important and to see how we can reshape the world of football, to make it more resilient to the kind of pandemic we are currently experiencing and bring positivity to people’s lives.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3’s price might go similar to the Galaxy Z Fold2

0

After the arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung to launch its successor, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 pretty soon next year. As of now, we have got to know a lot of things (some are rumored and some are the confirmed) regarding this flagship of Samsung. For a few months, there was a dilemma in our mind whether the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come With S-Pen Support. But a couple of days ago, Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 will arrive with S-pen support.

Recently another report has arrived regarding the pricing of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone. We have seen that in terms of these folding smartphones, Samsung has always set a higher price tag for those. So, it was earlier expected that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will cost even higher than its predecessor Z Fold 2. But now we’ve got a report that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will cost almost similar to the Z Fold 2. That means, there will be not much fluctuation in terms of the pricing of it. It is expected that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will carry a price tag of around $2,000.

If Samsung sets a similar price tag, then we can say that the Z Fold 3 is a comparatively good buy at that price point if you can afford it. The main reason is that Samsung has confirmed that they will use the S-Pen stylus with it. To use an S-Pen, the display has to be very much improved and advanced as well. So, getting an improved folding display with an S-Pen stylus as a cherry on the cake at that price point has to be a pretty good deal for its buyers.

OFFICIAL: Newcastle United vs Aston Villa postponed following COVID outbreak

0

News reports circulating yesterday talked about Newcastle United closing down their training ground following multiple positive COVID-19 cases among the players of the club.

Newcastle have now come out and said that they will not be naming the players who have tested positive to respect their privacy.

Owing to the numerous positive cases at the club’s training facility, the Premier League has now officially postponed the game between Newcastle United and Aston Villa, scheduled to be held this weekend, to a later date.

The club, Premier League as well as the Health Authorities in England will make sure that the people and staff in the Newcastle training ground are re-tested and that their results are further evaluated for the safety of everybody involved.

The staff and players who have tested positive are currently in isolation to prevent the further spread of the virus.

The cancellation of the match between Villa and Newcastle is the first in the Premier League this season, and will probably not be the last of it’s kind either.

Newcastle currently sit 13th in the Premier League, in front of Arsenal, earning 14 points from 10 games played. After losing to Chelsea 2-0, the Magpies would have been hoping to continue recovery in form after winning against Crystal Palace this past weekend by the same scoreline, only in their favour this time.

Villa, on the other hand, could use the weekend to regroup and rethink their approach to games on the back of the 2-1 defeat to West Ham on matchday 10. Villa sit slap bang in the middle of the Premier League table, and already have a game in hand on the teams above.

Newcastle will likely host West Brom on matchday 12 next, while Aston Villa compete against Wolves in the Midlands derby on the same date.

ISL 2020-21: East Bengal suffers consecutive defeat in their debut ISL campaign

East Bengal is again defeated by Mumbai City FC by 3 goals on Tuesday at GMC Stadium, Goa with their back-to-back defeats in their debut ISL campaign.

East Bengal did not have a good beginning to their debut ISL campaign as they again faced a defeat against Mumbai City FC by a 3-0 margin on Tuesday, after the derby loss on Friday.

Source – Goal.com

Despite the struggling start on Tuesday, MCFC managed to take down on SC East Bengal FC due to the individual errors made both the time by the SC East Bengal FC players.

EB’s inexperienced backline defense is a concern, as they committed reckless mistakes that eventually cost them the match, with players making individual mistakes.

Another area of concern for EB is Debjit’s Performance between the goalposts as he gave away a penalty against MCFC on Tuesday, where he could have done much better in both the matches with a few goals the team conceded.

“I am devastated myself. I hope players are hurting more than me. We have to go again in 4-5 days [vs NorthEast United FC]. We are still coaching players, some Indian players look like they haven’t been coached before. We are teaching intricate passing. We have to learn pretty quickly. We have to be better,” said Fowler.

Fowler also said, “I will love to have them in all areas of the park in all honesty. But I can’t complain because we have what we have. Individual errors have cost us. The ball over the top in the first game [led to a goal] and same again today [ Adam le Fondre’s opening goal]. When you make errors against a quality side you get punished. Two goals conceded today were our mistakes. We have to work and try to lift them [players].

To sum up, EB has too many holes with a weak strategy and individual player performance. Robbie Fowler has got a lot of work to be done on the team.

Rangers to broadcast four more Bengaluru FC games in the UK via Facebook

Scottish Premiership club Glasgow Rangers have officially announced that they will be broadcasting Hero ISL games in the UK via Facebook. The same way that the La Liga broadcast their games in India.

“The ISL is a fast-paced and competitive league and we are certain Rangers supporters, and many other football fans in the UK will be compelled to follow the live action on our social media platforms.”

“Everyone at Rangers sends best wishes to our partner club Bengaluru FC for the campaign and we look forward to welcoming them to Glasgow in July 2021 for a friendly match with the Rangers first team.”

“We’ve also been hugely encouraged by the audience numbers in the several millions that have viewed Rangers SPFL Premiership matches live on STAR Sports in India already this season.”

The Scottish club have been involved in a partnership with ISL club Bengaluru FC since 2019. The initial deal involved six matches to be broadcasted in the UK through the club’s official Facebook page.

They have already shown two games on their platform, and the remaining four games all feature their partners in Indian football, Bengaluru FC.

Both of their fixtures in the 2020/21 edition of the ISL have ended in points being shared across both the teams. Bengaluru played out a 2-2 draw against Goa FC in their opening contest. Their second match saw the scoreline read a 0-0 draw against Hyderabad FC.

James Bisgrove, Commercial and Marketing Director, said:

“This innovative partnership with the ISL represents a further pillar in Rangers international strategy and cements our ambition to develop a meaningful and long-lasting relationship with the growing Indian football fan base.”

Indian football can use all the support from the bigger clubs in the world owing to their huge influence and monetary strength. This support could eventually result in India’s passion for football achieve new heights through the medium of the league itself.
