Danilo to sign new contract with Juventus until 2025

Juventus full-back Danilo is set to renew his contract with the club in the coming days. The player himself confirmed that he would be signing on for an additional period beyond his current deal, and it is only a matter of time before it has been made official. 

This season, he has been one of the most trusted defenders for Max Allegri. He has started all matches in Serie A except for one, and has worn the captain’s armband in nine games. As a result, he has stepped up as a leader on the pitch which has helped the rest of the team get back on track. 

Danilo to renew contract with Juventus very soon

MediaTek’s revenues will continue to drop in Q1 2023

Revenues of $3.4 billion, down 26% QoQ and 25% YoY for MediaTek‘s Q4 2022. The total revenue for 2022 was $18.7 billion, an increase of 6% year over year. Powered by 5G SoCs, MediaTek produced a good H1 2022, but a disappointing H2 2022 as a result of macroeconomic headwinds and customer inventory adjustments.

Why MediaTek’s revenue is dropping?

The sluggish consumer demand, the slow China market, and inventory adjustments by smartphone OEMs were the causes of the QoQ fall. Due to aggressive inventory adjustments by clients, the revenue for the mobile phone segment fell by 25% YoY and 30% QoQ. In Q4 2022, the Taiwanese chip giant derived 52% of its revenue from this category.

MediaTek's revenues will continue to drop in Q1 2023

Due to order reductions from telecommunication operators for inventory adjustment, the smart edge segment, which generated 42% of the company’s sales in the fourth quarter, experienced a sequential fall of 18%. Due to the rising popularity of these devices in the US and Europe, enterprise ASIC and automotive revenue both increased.

A small portion of MediaTek’s revenue, or 6%, came from the power IC market, which saw a 37% QoQ decline in Q4 due to sluggish demand from consumer electronics like smartphones. But in Q4 there was a rise in demand for power ICs from commercial and industrial applications.

MediaTek revised its outlook from the previous quarter’s estimate, lowering Q1 2023 revenues to the range of $3.0-$3.4 billion, a decrease of 35–40% year over year and 3-12% quarter over quarter. A 47.5% gross margin and a 33% operating expense ratio are anticipated for Q1 2023. The majority of smartphone OEMs will keep their inventory cautiously. The first quarter will see a small uptick in demand for Wi-Fi and smart TV. Along with Bullitt Group, MediaTek unveiled satellite-based connectivity solutions that will go on sale in Q1 2023. After Apple and Qualcomm, MediaTek is the third company to provide satellite-based connectivity options.

By the end of H1 2023, MediaTek directed the inventory levels to return to normal. This is consistent with our opinion. MediaTek anticipates a sales increase in the second half of 2023. By the end of Q1 2023, Chinese smartphone OEMs’ inventory levels will drop to 2-2.5 months from the current 3-3.5 months.

MediaTek shipments have decreased, according to Counterpoint Research’s Smartphone AP/SoC Shipment Tracker, as a result of continuous inventory adjustments, the state of the global economy, and a sluggish China market. In Q4 2022, LTE SoCs saw a greater drop than 5G SoCs.

Ruben Baraja becomes new Valencia head coach after Gattuso

For cricket enthusiasts and fans, the term VJD method is not new. The Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI has finally paid the due remuneration to the developer of the “VJD method“, V Jayadevan, after a massive 25 years. This method is used to calculate target scores if a cricket match is interrupted by rain and has been extensively used in domestic cricket matches in India since 1998.

V Jayadevan, a civil engineer, who worked at the irrigation department in Thrissur, created the VJD method as a casual invention and it was Sunil Gavaskar who finally understood its worth and got it adopted by the BCCI. Despite the widespread popularity of the VJD method, the BCCI failed to recognize its worth and provided just a meagre one-time remuneration, which Jayadevan used for developing a better version of the software.

Here’s what you need to know about Jayadevan and his revolutionary creation – VJD Method

  1. The VJD method was created as a teaching tool for a BTech student.
  2. Jayadevan, who was passionate about cricket, took an interest in the subject and developed the method.
  3. Sunil Gavaskar finally understood its merits and assured to take it forward.
  4. The BCCI adopted the method in domestic cricket in 1998 but failed to provide a deserving payment to Jayadevan.
  5. In 2010, there were plans to use the VJD method in the Indian Premier League but it didn’t materialise due to internal issues.
  6. Jayadevan is currently working on adapting the method for Android and iOS phones.
  7. He has taken VRS from his job and is now developing the Android version of the VJD method.
  8. Jayadevan will continue discussions with IPL chairman Brijesh Patel and BCCI to explore the possibility of using the VJD method in IPL tournaments.

For the unversed, the Duckworth-Lewis method is also used to set winning targets in international matches that are disrupted by rain. However, the BCCI adopted the VJD method for domestic cricket in India. “I think, for a while, I did feel like, ‘Aw man, I’m being put in a box, and I don’t like it, so I’m going to fight to get out of that and show people what I can do,’” Plaza said of being typecast in a certain comedy role. “But then I started to look at it as a gift. If I convince people so well that I was that one thing and then I do something that’s totally different, it will be that much more satisfying to surprise them. So I started to try to think of it like that and be a little bit more positive and less bitter about it.”

Plaza previously said that she channeled her inner James Bond for “Operation Fortune.” 

“I was like, ‘If I’m going to be in an action movie, I want to be with Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie, that’s good for me,’” Plaza told L’Officiel Australia of playing secret agent Sarah Fidel. “Normally, in those movies, the Bond character is always mildly sexually harassing other women or being so overly flirtatious with the women. I was like, I wanted Sarah Fidel to be a female bond, not like a Bond girl, like a female Bond. Where I was like, I’m an agent, but I’m also hitting on all the guys, and I’m just horny or something.” 

She talked with fun  “That was not in the script. I just added that because I thought that’s what a female Bond character would do. We need a female Bond.”

Newgen Gaming raises strategic investment from nCore Games

Newgen Gaming operates the popular Penta Esports brand

The funding will be used to expand operations across South Asia and MENA regions

nCore Games has also invested in Studio nCore, IceSpice and Dot9 Games

nCore Games has made a strategic investment of $1 million in a gaming company, Newgen Gaming which operates in the esports domain through its brand Penta Esports. This is the first funding round for Newgen Gaming.

The company was founded in 2021 by industry veterans Anurag Khurana, Kiran Noojibail,  Akshay Paul and Krishanu Ghosal. Its esports brand, Penta Esports, specialises in multiple verticals including leagues, tournaments and content. With a focus on the grassroots esports ecosystem of India, the brand enables esports athletes with opportunities across titles and platforms.

Since its inception, Penta Esports has launched its grassroots-focused league called the Penta Amateur League and the Penta Collegiate League for colleges and universities, alongside other tournament IPs like the Penta Invitational, Penta Cup, and Penta Challenge. The company’s latest IP, the Penta Pro Series which was an official Valorant Off Season event witnessed participation from the best teams across regions. Additionally, the brand also has multiple content IPs and plans to launch more.
