Overwatch Season 3 Explodes Into Japan With Shion’s Domination & Neon Junction Hybrid Map — Play Free This Week

The Hashimoto Clan is taking over. Overwatch Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den launches tomorrow, June 16, 2026 — and it’s time to ride with claws out.

Overwatch Season 3 : Overview

Who Is Shion, Exactly?

Shion is an Omnic — an artificially intelligent robot — who uniquely resembles a human, making her Overwatch’s first human-faced Omnic hero. Unlike other Omnics with visibly mechanical appearances, Shion has a human-like face, identified only by cybernetic speakers in her neck and faint Omnic dots beneath her hair.

Described as the “Hashimoto Clan’s most terrifying elder,” Shion lords over Talon’s criminal operations in Japan with terrifying confidence — once held captive and controlled by others, she now commands it all.

What Makes Shion Tick?

Shion wields two Kira Pistols as her primary weapon, has the Execution ability firing an X-shaped volley, and uses Evade to dash and gain overhealth. Her ultimate Joyride lets her rev her motorcycle’s engine — reactivate it to dismount and launch the bike forward at enemies.

Think Tracer meets biker gang leader — deadly precision with a mechanical edge.

Beyond Shion: What Else Arrives

Season 3 brings Neon Junction, the first brand-new Hybrid map for standard modes since Overwatch’s 2026 relaunch, set in Tokyo. The season also includes new Mythic skins, an expanding Hashimoto Clan storyline, a seasonal story event, and fresh creator collaborations — including an anticipated YOASOBI music crossover.

The Lore Matters

The Hashimoto Clan is directly responsible for assassinating Sojiro Shimada, the father of playable heroes Hanzo and Genji — making Shion’s arrival loaded with story potential. This isn’t just a new character; it’s a pivotal moment in Overwatch’s unfolding Japan narrative. Tech Times

Shion arrives as part of Blizzard’s push toward 10 new heroes in 2026 — keeping the franchise’s fastest character-release pace since the original 2016 launch.
