What Is Outcome About?

Outcome follows Reef Hawk — a beloved Hollywood actor who has been sober for five years and is quietly rebuilding his life. When his crisis lawyer reveals that someone is blackmailing him with a video of questionable content, his carefully maintained image is suddenly at risk. Reef then sets out to make amends with those he’s wronged in the past to figure out who the blackmailer is.

It’s part reputation-management thriller, part soul-searching comedy — and the trailer already looks gloriously unhinged. Learn more about the Outcome film on Wikipedia.

The Star-Studded Cast Explained

Keanu Reeves plays Reef Hawk — described by his friends in the trailer as “for the last four decades, America’s favourite movie star,” with roles in three of the biggest franchises in film history. Wikipedia It’s essentially Reeves playing a darker version of himself, and it’s deliciously meta.

Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer play his two lifelong friends Kyle and Xander, while Jonah Hill appears as his crisis lawyer Ira — helping steer Reef through a scandal that sounds increasingly personal and self-inflicted. IMDb

Filmmaker Martin Scorsese also appears in the film as an agent for young actors in Hollywood Rotten Tomatoes — a cameo that will make movie lovers do a double take. David Spade, Laverne Cox, and Kaia Gerber round out an ensemble that feels deliberately, brilliantly weird.

At a press event, Hill described Outcome as “a metaphor for what we all go through, living on social media — obsessed with what people we don’t know think of us, instead of caring about what the people who know us best think.”

This is Hill’s first film role since 2023’s You People and marks his return to directing since Mid90s — and in the trailer, he looks completely unrecognisable, having lost a significant amount of weight and sporting a bushy beard.
