Our Universe Ending Explained — Did Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin Finally Choose Each Other and Keep Baby Woo-joo?

It started with two strangers forced to raise a baby together. It ended with one of 2026’s most emotionally satisfying K-drama finales. Our Universe (우주를 줄게) wrapped its 12-episode run on tvN on March 12, 2026 — and if you’re still processing the finale, you’re not alone. Here’s everything unpacked.

Our Universe Series Overview

The Finale — What Actually Happened?

Our Universe’s finale gives Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin their happy ending with Woo-joo. In the last episode, the couple faces a painful setback when authorities suspect child abuse after Woo-joo’s accident.

It’s a gut-wrenching moment — two people who have poured everything into raising this child suddenly facing the possibility of losing him. But love wins. With support from neighbors and people around them, evidence is submitted showing that Woo-joo has always been loved and properly cared for. The investigation clears them, and Woo-joo finally returns home. Once he does, Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin become his legal guardians. The closing scenes focus on Woo-joo’s birthday celebration, ending on a note of warmth and emotional closure. Movie Insider

Our Universe Emotional Core — What Made This Finale Land So Well

The ending of Our Universe is less about grand romantic gestures and more about emotional maturity. Both Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin spend much of the series holding back their feelings because they believe responsibility must come before personal happiness. The misunderstanding about leaving the country forces them to confront what they truly feel — removing the last barrier between them and allowing them to admit that their relationship is no longer just about co-parenting.

As the finale puts it beautifully: they are no longer two people forced together by circumstance, but two adults choosing to stay.

Will There Be a Season 2?

A second season seems unlikely. Our Universe was designed as a 12-episode limited series, and by the last episode, the story reaches its natural resolution. The family has found peace. The story feels complete.
