OPPO brings their new OPPO R17 Pro with 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 710, 8GB RAM, in-display fingerprint sensor will be launched on December 4th in India
Flagship grade camera smartphones have been launched back to back in the past couple of weeks. From Pixel 3 to iPhone XS or from Huawei Mate 20 Pro to OnePlus 6T, we have seen some great camera smartphones in recent days.
On the other hand, OPPO, known for its camera smartphones, had also launched their premium R17 Pro globally. Now, being very affluent in the Indian market, OPPO has taken no leisure to make this smartphone available in India as soon as possible.
So finally, they have teased the launch of this new premium camera smartphone – OPPO R17 Pro on December 4th in India. Let’s dig into the specs of the smartphone:
The OPPO R17 Pro
Design & Display
Launched back in August, the smartphone packs in a huge and immersive 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. Having a 19:9 aspect ratio it bears the trending “Dew-drop Notch” with 91.5% screen-to-body ratio.
The screen is secured with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and houses the in-display fingerprint sensor that is said to unlock the smartphone in 0.41 seconds.
The smartphone bears a new fog gradient that uses 3D fog glass and a new condensing grading process. It helps to make the colours blend on the back of the smartphone and flow with the light and shadow.
Performance
For the performance, we have the new Snapdragon 710 chipset based on the new 10nm architecture. With 8 cores and with Andreno 616 GPU intensive performance is also expected from the new R17 Pro.
The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for smooth performance.
Camera
Coming to the flagship grade camera, it has a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.5 and f/2.4 variable aperture. This helps you capture great shots automatically depending upon the lighting situations. The secondary 20-megapixel depth sensor helps you to capture great portrait shots and zoom accordingly.

Also, OPPO has added a special functionality named Time of Flight (TOF) 3D Sensing camera. It helps you to get high-precision 3D depth information through nanosecond infrared light measurement.
You may use it to capture 3D photos and can also connect it to your TV and even turn it to a home game console.
The 25MP front-facing AI camera with f/2.0 aperture can also capture 1080p videos at 30 fps. As expected, it also bears some great AI beauty modes and has 3D Portrait mode as well.
Software & Battery
It runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo). The smartphone is juiced by a 3700mAh (2 x 1850mAh) battery with SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology.

This technology was noticed in the F9 Pro already. It helps to charge the smartphone from 0 to 40% in just 10 minutes. This uses a powerful 10V / 5A (50W) SuperVOOC charger.

Availability & Price
As said early, Oppo R17 Pro is confirmed to launch on December 4th in Mumbai, India. Pre-orders of the smartphone will start from 1st December.
Oppo R17 Pro will be available in Radiant Mist and Emerald Green colours. It will come in two configurations- with 6/8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone has a price of CNY 4,299 (approximately. Rs. 43,770), which suggests that the smartphone could be priced in the same category in India.
Well, after some unsatisfying sales of premium end OPPO Find X in a budget-centric country like India, OPPO will primarily target its rivals OnePlus, Huawei, Samsung and Nokia who have recently launched some amazing camera smartphones.
Well, the smartphone looks pretty decent and satisfying enough and bears some solid specs, it will be interesting to see how Indian customers react to this new premium smartphone by OPPO.
