A flagship-grade compact tablet and a massive productivity powerhouse. Oppo is going all-in on tablets in 2026.

Oppo is not just launching the Find X9 Ultra on April 21. Alongside its headline camera phone, the company is simultaneously unveiling two brand-new tablets — the Oppo Pad Mini and the Oppo Pad 5 Pro — both in China. One is built for portability and on-the-go performance. The other is a full-sized productivity beast. Here is everything you need to know about both.

Oppo Pad Mini — The Most Exciting Compact Android Tablet of 2026

Design and Display

The Oppo Pad Mini is turning heads before it has even launched. Oppo has teased it with ultra-thin, symmetrical bezels and a centred punch-hole front camera — making it look more like a premium smartphone scaled up than a traditional tablet.

According to NotebookCheck, the Pad Mini sports a 5.39mm thin enclosure, making it noticeably slimmer than most competing compact tablets currently available. At just 279 grams, it is also remarkably light for its class.

The display is where it truly impresses. The 8.8-inch LTPO OLED panel runs at a 2,880 x 1,920 resolution with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, hitting approximately 1,800 nits peak brightness — a specification that, as GizChina notes, simply does not exist in this size class anywhere else right now.

The 3:2 aspect ratio is also a quietly meaningful design choice. Most tablets optimise for 16:10 video playback; 3:2 optimises for reading, web browsing, and document work — giving the Pad Mini a genuine dual personality as both a media and productivity device.

Performance

Under the hood, the Oppo Pad Mini is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 — an octa-core chip built on a cutting-edge 3nm process. Geekbench results for the device (model number OPD2515) confirm a single-core score of 2,762 and a multi-core score of 9,037, placing it firmly in flagship performance territory.

According to Gizmochina, single-core performance sits around 14% lower than the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — but in practical use, that gap is unlikely to be noticeable for gaming, streaming, or everyday tasks. The Geekbench listing also confirms Android 16 and 12GB of RAM out of the box.

Notably, as NotebookCheck points out, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 inside the Pad Mini is approximately 30% faster than Apple’s A17 Pro chip found in the current iPad mini — a significant benchmark advantage.

Oppo Pad 5 Pro — The Flagship Productivity Powerhouse

For those who want raw power and maximum screen real estate, the Oppo Pad 5 Pro is the answer. According to a China Telecom listing reported by Gizmochina, the Pad 5 Pro is set to launch on April 21 alongside the Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s Pro, Pad Mini, and Enco R5.

The Pad 5 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — the same top-tier chip found in the Find X9 Ultra — delivering approximately 20% faster CPU performance compared to its predecessor. This places the Pad 5 Pro firmly in the most premium tier of Android tablets available anywhere.

The China Telecom listing reveals a 13,380 mAh battery with an estimated full charge time of around 120 minutes, suggesting 80W fast charging support. The tablet will be available in multiple configurations — 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and 16GB+512GB — and will come in three colour options: Dawn Gold, Mocha Brown, and Monet Purple.

Why These Two Tablets Matter

The Oppo Pad Mini, if its specifications hold at launch, could be the best compact Android tablet of 2026 — potentially giving the iPad mini its toughest competition yet. The combination of an OLED display at this size, a 3nm flagship chip, a slim 5.39mm build, and an 8,000 mAh battery in a single package is genuinely unprecedented for a compact Android tablet.

The Pad 5 Pro, on the other hand, targets a completely different buyer — one who needs maximum screen space and processing muscle for productivity, content creation, and heavy multitasking.

Together, they demonstrate that Oppo is taking its tablet lineup as seriously as any other product category in 2026.

Pricing has not been officially confirmed for either device as of this writing. Both will debut in China on April 21, 2026, alongside the Find X9 Ultra.
