OPPO India works closely with Reliance Jio to conduct 5G trials for Reno 6 Series

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen 5G trials in several metropolitan cities such as Mumbai and Gurgaon. Most of them were conducted on sub-6GHz networks but managed to cross the 1Gbps threshold due to the lack of network congestion. Now OPPO India has partnered with Reliance Jio to field test the latter’s SA (standalone) 5G networks in its test labs. The 5G-ready OPPO Reno6 series of smartphones have been chosen due to their ability to interface with a wide variety of 5G networks. For those who are not aware, the Oppo Reno6 series 5G smartphones are priced in the range of Rs 29,900 to Rs 39,990.

Jio used the Reno6 and the 6 Pro to conduct trials at Oppo’s 5G lab. The Reno6 Pro supports 11 5G bands wherein Reno6 is equipped with 13 5G bands. Oppo India’s VP and R&D Head Tasleem Arif said, “OPPO India is working relentlessly to accelerate 5G deployment and its accessibility for all. Our 5G standalone network trial for Reno6 Series with Jio is part of our in-depth research in the 5G era towards ensuring a better experience for the users. The successful validation of Reno6 Series devices on the 5G SA network of Jio is testimony to our commitment as a company to bring cutting-edge technology to our customers.”

Reliance Jio Partners with OPPO India for 5G trails

The company believes that Standalone (SA) architecture will be a mainstream architecture of future 5G networks. It, therefore, has been conducting 5G SA network trails through its 5G Innovation lab in India. The company has developed solutions for stand-alone platforms. Reliance Jio, one of the leading telcos testing 5G networks in India, offered its 5G standalone network environment for testing these devices.

An OPPO phone was the first to successfully complete a WhatsApp video call over a 5G network. The company has also established a 5G Innovation Lab at its Hyderabad R&D centre and is responsible for several 5G-related patents globally.

The Department of Telecom has allocated spectrum in the mid-band (3.2 GHz to 3.67 GHz), the millimetre-wave band (24.25 GHz to 28.5 GHz) and in the sub-gigahertz band (700 MHz) for 5G trials in India. Oppo has revealed its commitment to laying the foundation for 5G SA network trials throughout its 5G innovation labs in India. This year, Oppo has launched 6 5G smartphones in the Indian market.

Not only this, but the smartphone manufacturer has allocated an investment of Rs 2,200 crore to manufacture 5G smartphones at the manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. It is also expected that Oppo is going to make future investments in the fast-paced Indian market to bring better products and services for its customers.
