OPPO Find X9 Ultra: True 10x Optical Zoom Returns to Flagships

OPPO is poised to revolutionize smartphone photography in 2026 with the Find X9 Ultra, bringing back true 10x optical zoom—a feature absent from flagship devices since Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra. The upcoming camera powerhouse features an unprecedented dual 200MP setup alongside a dedicated 50MP 10x periscope telephoto, marking the first time a manufacturer has delivered genuine optical zoom at this level without relying on AI interpolation.

True 10x Optical vs AI Zoom: The Critical Difference

While competitors have retreated to AI-enhanced digital zoom masquerading as “10x,” OPPO’s Find X9 Ultra will be the only smartphone with native 10x optical zoom at this level. This represents a fundamental technological leap. True optical zoom maintains resolution, fine detail, and noise control that AI algorithms simply cannot replicate. The difference becomes especially apparent in challenging lighting conditions, where digital zoom produces artifacts and degradation that optical systems naturally avoid.

Triple Camera Innovation: Why Two 200MP Sensors Matter

The dual 200MP approach serves distinct purposes. The primary camera features a 200MP super-large sensor with light intake claimed to surpass current one-inch class sensors, ensuring exceptional low-light performance and detail capture. The second 200MP mid-range periscope telephoto is designed for high-quality lossless zoom at moderate focal lengths.

This combination allows seamless transitions across the entire zoom range—from ultra-wide to extreme telephoto—without the quality compromises inherent in single-sensor systems. The 50MP 10x periscope completes the trinity, targeting distant subjects with precision that competitors using purely computational methods cannot match.

Filling Samsung’s Void

Since Samsung abandoned 10x optical telephoto after the S23 Ultra, photography enthusiasts have lamented the loss of genuine long-range capabilities. OPPO’s decision to invest in proper optical engineering rather than marketing-friendly AI solutions addresses this gap directly. The Find X9 Ultra delivers what imaging purists have demanded: uncompromising optical performance across the entire focal range.

Additional Flagship Features

Beyond cameras, the Find X9 Ultra packs flagship essentials including Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a battery exceeding 7,000mAh capacity, ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.
