OnePlus Teases New Tablet, Pad 4 Keyboard Launching Soon

Amid weeks of speculation about OnePlus scaling back globally, the company just sent a very different signal from India: it’s planning more tablets, not fewer. In an exclusive interaction with 91mobiles, Varun Jha, Head of IoT Business at OnePlus India, laid out where the brand’s tablet lineup is headed next.

A New Tablet Is Coming

Jha confirmed OnePlus has notable plans for its tablet portfolio later this year, though he stopped short of sharing specifics. What is confirmed, however, is nearer-term: the OnePlus Pad 4 Smart Keyboard will launch in India within the coming weeks, giving Pad 4 owners an official first-party typing accessory.

It’s a meaningful update for anyone tracking OnePlus’s tablet strategy, which now spans everything from the budget-friendly Pad Lite to the flagship Pad 4 built on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. For more on how the lineup has evolved, check our OnePlus coverage.

Software Support Gets a Consolidation Push

Asked about extending software support for tablets — a fair question as prices climb and buyers hold onto devices longer — Jha pointed to OnePlus’s broader software consolidation instead of a tablet-specific promise. Eligible devices will get the option to move to ColorOS later this year, a shift OnePlus says will streamline development by pooling engineering resources across its lineup.

On specifics, the Pad 4 currently gets three years of Android OS updates and six years of security updates, though Jha didn’t commit to anything beyond that for future models.

No Mini Tablet — Bigger Screens Are the Focus

Don’t expect an iPad mini rival any time soon. Jha indicated OnePlus is seeing users lean toward larger displays as tablets shift from content consumption toward productivity, note-taking, and creative work — and that’s the direction the brand’s product decisions will keep following.

Building a Connected Ecosystem

OnePlus is also investing in tying its tablets closer to the rest of its devices through O+ Connect, enabling file sharing across Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS, plus screen mirroring and app relay between phone and tablet. The Pad 4 specifically supports Desktop Control, a Mac and Windows Keyboard Mode, and Tap & Transfer for quick file sharing.

Context: The India Exit Rumours

This roadmap comes weeks after a Bloomberg report suggested OnePlus could exit India sometime in 2027, following confirmed exits from the US and Europe. OnePlus India has maintained its local operations remain on track, and has since launched the budget-focused OnePlus N6x — a pattern of continued investment that doesn’t match an exit narrative.
