OnePlus has quietly launched the N6x, and on paper it looks like a classic budget play: a massive battery, tough build, and a familiar brand name. But at Rs. 18,999, this is one of the most contested price points in Indian smartphones. So — should you actually buy it, or does your money go further elsewhere?

What the OnePlus N6x Gets Right

The N6x’s headline feature is its 7,000mAh battery, rated by OnePlus for up to 2.5 days of typical use, 20+ hours of video streaming, and over 750 hours on standby. It also carries genuine durability chops — a MIL-STD-810H rating, IP64 dust/splash resistance, and an “ArmorShell” design with airbag cushioning that’s survived 25 consecutive drops onto marble in testing. Add bypass charging, adaptive night charging, and a rated 1,600 charge cycles with 80% capacity retention after six years, and this is clearly a phone built to be owned for a long time, not just bought and forgotten.

OnePlus N6x: Should You Buy It, or Is There Something Better at ₹18,999?

Spec	OnePlus N6x
Display	6.8″ HD+ LCD, 120Hz, 1200 nits HBM
Chipset	MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Apex (6nm)
RAM/Storage	4GB/64GB or 4GB/128GB
Battery	7,000mAh, 15W wired charging
Rear Camera	13MP, f/2.2
Front Camera	5MP, f/2.2
Durability	MIL-STD-810H, IP64
OS	Android 16, OxygenOS 16
Price	₹18,999 (4GB+64GB) / ₹20,999 (4GB+128GB)

Where It Falls Short

This is also where the N6x’s compromises show up clearly. The display is only HD+ resolution on a 6.8-inch panel — noticeably softer than the Full HD+ screens most rivals offer at this price. Charging tops out at a modest 15W, which feels dated when several competitors now ship 33W-80W charging even in the sub-₹20,000 bracket. The cameras are also basic: a 13MP main sensor with no ultrawide or macro, leaning heavily on AI software processing (like AI Portrait Glow) to compensate. And 4GB of RAM as the base configuration is on the lighter side for 2026 multitasking expectations.

Does It Make Sense to Buy Right Now?

If your priority is genuinely “a phone that survives drops, dust, and two days without a charger without ever thinking about it,” the N6x delivers exactly that — and OnePlus’s brand trust and software support add peace of mind Redmi or Infinix can’t always match. TechnoSports previously called the related OnePlus N6 a smart, practical pick in a tightening budget market, and that logic largely extends to the N6x.

But if display sharpness, camera versatility, or charging speed matter more to your daily use than raw battery endurance and toughness, it’s worth cross-shopping before committing — because at ₹18,999-20,999, you’re not short on choices.

Better Alternatives to Consider at This Price

Phone	Why Consider It Instead
Redmi 15 5G	144Hz display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, 7,000mAh battery with 33W charging
Moto G57 Power	Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 120Hz LCD, 7,000mAh battery, faster charging, top-rated value pick
iQOO Z11 Lite 5G	Dual rear cameras, competitive pricing, solid everyday performance
vivo T5x	Dimensity 7300, 6,500mAh battery with 44W charging, better camera consistency
CMF Phone 2 Pro	AMOLED display, Dimensity 7300 Pro, standout design at a similar price

Several of these match or beat the N6x on charging speed and display quality while staying competitive on battery size — worth checking out if you’re not locked into the OnePlus ecosystem. For a broader field, TechnoSports’ running list of the best phones under ₹20,000 in India is a good next stop, and if camera performance is non-negotiable, the best camera phones under ₹20,000 roundup covers stronger imaging options in the same bracket.

The Verdict

Buy the OnePlus N6x if battery life, durability, and brand reliability top your checklist and you can live with an HD+ screen and 15W charging. Skip it if you want a sharper display, faster charging, or a more capable camera — in which case the Redmi 15 5G or Moto G57 Power are worth a serious look first. It’s on open sale in India from August 4, 2026, via OnePlus.in and other major online retailers.
