OnePlus Goes Online-Only in India: What’s Really Happening

OnePlus just made a move that’s raising a lot of eyebrows — and a lot of questions. The brand has officially confirmed a shift to an online-first sales model in India, and according to a report, that means partner-run exclusive stores across the country are being asked to shut down. The deadline? March 31, 2026.

What’s Changing on the Ground

This isn’t a gradual transition — it’s a sharp pivot, and the impact is already rippling through OnePlus’s retail network:

So if you were relying on a OnePlus store in your city for your next upgrade, it’s time to bookmark Amazon instead.

The Bigger Picture Behind the Pivot

This retail pullback doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It follows the departure of OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu and comes amid reports of a potential global exit from markets like Europe and North America as early as April 2026. OnePlus, which has operated as an OPPO sub-brand since 2021, appears to be consolidating fast under its parent company.

On the service side, OnePlus is expanding its service centre count from around 400 to over 600 across India by tapping into OPPO’s existing network — a move clearly designed to reassure existing customers even as offline retail shrinks.

Interestingly, this is a return to OnePlus’s roots — the brand originally launched as an online-first company before gradually building offline presence.

For Indian buyers, the short-term outlook is stable — the Nord 6 is still on its way, and service support is actually improving. But the writing on the wall is hard to ignore. Keep up with the latest developments on TechnoSports as this story continues to unfold.
