The wait is over. OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 16 in China, and it arrives with some of the biggest numbers we have seen on a flagship this year: a 9,000mAh battery, a 200MP main camera and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip.
The phone starts at 5,999 yuan, which is roughly Rs 86,000 at current conversion, according to one report. There is no word yet on an India launch. Note that one outlet lists the base price as 5,699 yuan, and other figures differ from it. Two reports match the 5,999 yuan figure shown above, so we are using it until OnePlus’s own price sheet is clear. For comparison, the OnePlus 15 started at 3,999 yuan in China, so the 16 costs noticeably more, which fits the wider rise in memory prices.

The screen is a flat 6.78-inch LTPO panel, developed with BOE, which OnePlus calls its fourth-generation Oriental Screen. It runs at 165Hz across the system and can reach 185Hz in compatible games. One report lists the China version at 185Hz and a later global version at 165Hz, so the exact gaming figure may vary by region.
Battery and Charging
A 9,000mAh battery is a big step up, and it comes with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone can also charge other devices at 27W over a wire. OnePlus pairs the cell with its own power management chip, but battery life claims need independent tests.
Cameras
The rear system has a 200MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. One report names the sensors as a Samsung HPE main, an OV50D ultra-wide and a Sony IMX882 telephoto. The front camera is 50MP.
