OnePlus 16 Display Detailed: 165Hz, 185Hz Gaming Mode and 1.15mm Bezels

Days before the OnePlus 16 launch, OnePlus has put the spotlight on its screen. The company and display maker BOE announced a co-developed fourth-generation “Oriental Screen” at a dedicated technology conference, and it will debut on the OnePlus 16. The phone is scheduled for an official launch on October 12.

OnePlus 16 Display at a Glance

A New Material and a New Production Line

OnePlus says the panel uses a custom X4 luminescent material, which it claims improves color accuracy, peak brightness, power efficiency and lifespan. According to OnePlus China President Li Jie, the display is produced on a newly upgraded manufacturing line that he described as the only one of its kind in China. Each sub-pixel gets three rounds of hardware calibration against what the company calls “S-level pixel index” specifications.

165Hz Every Day, 185Hz for Games

A revised LTPO circuit architecture supports a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate for daily use, and supported games can reach up to 185Hz. OnePlus claims power draw at 165Hz is comparable to what the previous generation used at 120Hz. The company also says the new architecture reduces latency, heat buildup and frame drops while keeping color consistent. These are company claims, and real-world battery results will need independent testing.

Eye Comfort, Clarity and Outdoor Use

The screen offers true hardware-level 1-nit low-brightness output, which is meant to reduce eye strain in dark rooms. OnePlus also lists “Ultra-Dynamic Clarity Technology” for sharper motion in fast-moving content, a custom P4 display processor, an updated “Bright Eyes Protection” eye-care suite and an improved outdoor visibility system for bright sunlight.

Slimmer Bezels

The OnePlus 16 will have symmetric 1.15mm ultra-narrow bezels on all four sides. Even bezels are harder to achieve than they look, and they give the phone a cleaner front when you hold it.

What Is Not Confirmed

The announcement does not state the display size, resolution, peak brightness or exact power figures. It also does not say when the phone will reach India; a separate report says OnePlus may bring a 16-series phone to India in December or January, but that is a tip, not an announcement. Why Display Upgrades Matter

A phone screen is what you touch and look at all day, so changes here are felt more than most spec-sheet numbers. A 165Hz LTPO panel can lower its refresh rate when you read and raise it for scrolling or games, which saves battery. OnePlus claims 165Hz power use matches last year’s 120Hz, but that is a company claim and needs independent testing. The thin 1.15mm symmetric bezels should also make the phone feel more modern in the hand, though final size, resolution and peak brightness have not been shared. The phone launches in China on October 12, so full numbers should follow within days. See the brand’s official site at OnePlus India.

Until OnePlus shares the screen size, resolution and brightness figures, treat the claims as promising but unproven, and wait for hands-on reviews.
