OnePlus 13T to Replace Alert Slider with Customizable Quick Key

A few weeks back, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau announced that the company is set to phase out the iconic alert slider – a feature long associated with its smartphones. Although this means the end of an era in many ways, OnePlus already has a successor waiting in the wings.

According to a leak from OnePlus, the upcoming OnePlus 13T could see a new “Quick Key”, similar to Apple’s Action Button, making its way onto the device. This feature will also supposedly provide customizable controls, including sound profile toggles, according to a company executive on Weibo.

Set on the left side of the phone, Quick Key is also named the new ‘multi-functional’ button that Apple has been pushing since the Mirror/Ring button. The OnePlus Quick Key is said to be a worthwhile evolution of the alert slider compared to previous generations, with Li Jie Louis Aleksandar, OnePlus China President, posting on Weibo recently a note not only teasing the feature but also rambling about it being able to do much more than before.

You will still be able to toggle between silent, vibrate, and ring modes, but the new button will also function with customizable shortcuts to get you to the things you use most often. Again, as a mini flagship, the OnePlus 13T is expected to be unveiled later this month. It just hit benchmarking site AnTuTu with the model number PKX110, and the specs are looking powerful. It is also rumored to include the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, Android 15, a 120Hz 1.5K OLED display, at least 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, with other configurations also probable.

On the prospective specs sheet, OnePlus is targeting to load the device with a massive 6,000mAh battery to make it one of the biggest battery-sized devices in the segment. On the design side, early leaks suggest the rear panel may take cues from the iPhone 16, though the brand will retain its signature style. Camera setup details remain uncertain, with rumors pointing to either a vertical or horizontal pill-shaped dual-lens design. Compact yet powerful, the OnePlus 13T is shaping up to be a compelling option for users seeking flagship performance in a smaller form factor.
