Olivia Rodrigo vs. Jake Paul: The SNL Sketch That Broke the Internet—What Really Happened?

When Olivia Rodrigo hosted Saturday Night Live on May 11, 2024, no one expected her to directly roast Jake Paul in a hilariously brutal sketch—but that’s exactly what happened. The “Bizaardvark” parody, a fake Disney Channel audition tape, featured Olivia playing a petty, vengeful teen pop star who shades Jake Paul in the most savage yet subtle way possible. Fans lost it, memes exploded, and Jake himself responded—but what was the real story behind the sketch? Was it just comedy, or was Olivia settling an old score? Let’s break it down.

The Sketch That Started It All

The sketch in question was a fake audition tape for a Disney Channel show called “Bizaardvark” (a real show Olivia starred in as a kid). In it, Olivia plays a diva-esque teen star who, after being asked to “act natural,” launches into a rant about her hatred for Jake Paul.

“Ugh, I hate Jake Paul. He’s the worst. He’s like, the epitome of everything wrong with YouTube. And his hair? Ew. And his voice? Ugh. And his face? Disgusting.”

The audience erupted in laughter, but the real kicker was Olivia’s deadpan delivery—making it clear this wasn’t just random comedy, but a very personal jab.

Why Jake Paul? The Backstory

For those who don’t know, Olivia and Jake have history. Back in 2017, when both were Disney Channel stars, Jake publicly dissed Olivia in a now-deleted tweet, calling her “overrated” after she rose to fame with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Olivia never responded publicly—until now.

Fast forward to 2024, and Olivia’s SNL sketch felt like the ultimate clapback. But was it premeditated, or just SNL’s writers capitalizing on old drama? Given Olivia’s history of writing deeply personal songs (see: “Drivers License”), many fans believe this was 100% intentional.

Jake Paul’s Reaction: Did He Take the Bait?

Jake, never one to back down from drama, responded on Twitter with a sarcastic clapback:

“Wow, Olivia Rodrigo used her entire SNL monologue to talk about me. Flattered, but maybe focus on your own career? 😂”

But here’s the thing—Olivia didn’t even mention him in her monologue. The jab was buried in a sketch, making Jake’s response look a little desperate. Fans roasted him for “falling for the bait,” while Olivia’s team stayed silent, letting the sketch speak for itself.

The Internet’s Reaction: Memes, Theories & More

Within hours, the sketch went viral, sparking:

• Memes of Olivia as a “Disney villain” with Jake as her “pathetic sidekick.”
• Theories that Olivia’s next album will include a diss track about Jake.
• Debates on whether this was petty or iconic.

Even Wikipedia’s page on Jake Paul saw an edit war, with users adding Olivia’s SNL roast to his “Controversies” section.

What This Means for Olivia & Jake’s “Feud”

Let’s be real—this isn’t a full-blown feud. Jake’s relevance has faded since his YouTube heyday, while Olivia is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. Her SNL sketch wasn’t about reigniting old drama—it was about proving she’s untouchable.

By roasting Jake on live TV, Olivia:
✅ Showed she’s not afraid to throw shade (even years later).
✅ Proved she’s in on the joke (self-aware humor = fan favorite).
✅ Made Jake look petty by responding to a joke he wasn’t even the main target of.
