Official: Microsoft Xbox Series X to cost $499 & Xbox Series S will cost $299

Today, Microsoft has officially announced the pricing of its very much anticipated two gaming consoles – the Microsoft Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S. Almost everything was confirmed about the upcoming next-gen gaming consoles, and today Microsoft also detailed the structure of the Xbox Series S along with pricing as well.

Much like the leaks and rumors, the pricing of these next-gen consoles matches as the Xbox Series X will cost $499 while its brother Xbox Series S will cost a modest $299. These two gaming consoles will be available from November 10 onwards, however, pre-orders of both the consoles begin from September 22.

Like its predecessors, Xbox One X, the Series X will be the most powerful gaming console featuring 8 AMD Zen 2 cores running up to 3.8 GHz and AMD RDNA 2 graphics with 52 CUs and 1.825 GHz GPU clock speed. With 16 GB GDDR6 RAM, 1 TB custom NVMe SSD along with 1 TB expansion card, you can store a heck lot of games and use the expansion slot to game anytime.

The Xbox Series X and its promise to deliver 4K games at 60 fps, as well as support for up to 120 fps for “the most demanding and competitive games.” Also, there’s support for hardware-accelerated DirectX Raytracing giving you framerates up to 120 frames per second. The new Xbox Series X promises faster loading times, and Quick Resume for multiple games, playing will look and feel better.

The Xbox Series S delivers approximately 3x the GPU performance of Xbox One and was designed to play games at 1440p at 60 frames per second, with support for up to 120fps. It is also features the next generation AMD RDNA 2 graphics architecture and this budget gaming console will be focused to give higher frame rates for both 1080p and 1440p gaming, which is great for a lot of gamers at sweet price of $299.

Both these consoles will use the Xbox Velocity Architecture to provide faster loading times and support for Dolby Atmos, support for Dolby Vision via streaming media apps like Disney+, Vudu, and Netflix. The Dolby Vision support for gaming will come first to our next-gen Xbox consoles in 2021. Overall, Microsoft has done a great job with the pricing and if it delivers up to its promise then a new generation of gaming awaits for a lot of gamers out there.
