What’s Coming in New Recruit Season 4

New Recruit has built its following on exploring the culture, secrets, and everyday absurdities of South Korea’s military through the eyes of young men in their 20s. Season 4 picks up with Park Min Seok, played by Kim Min Ho, now promoted to corporal and just starting to settle into his new role — right before everything gets shaken up again.

The arrival of a mysterious new recruit and an intense new battalion commander throws Min Seok’s hard-won peace into chaos, kicking off what the production team is calling a “massive sabotage” of the fragile order he’d just found among the senior soldiers.

New Recruit 4: Meet the Cast

Kim Min Ho returns as the so-called “military-spooned” corporal trying to quietly work his way up the ranks. Kim Dong Jun is back as Jeon Se Gye, a national actor turned surprisingly well-adjusted “military star.” Oh Dae Hwan continues as Company Commander Jo Baek Ho, the warm, steady anchor of the unit nicknamed the “human vitamin.”

Joining the cast, Lee Hyun Kyun plays the intense new Battalion Commander Byun Hyuk Jin, who’s pushing for sweeping “advanced barracks culture” changes, while Lee Won Jung takes on the role of Kim Hyun Wook — a new recruit whose real intentions stay frustratingly unclear.

What the Producers Are Promising

The production team teased that unexpected crises threatening the barracks’ order will bring even bigger laughs and relatable moments this season, alongside what they describe as noticeably upgraded chemistry among the cast. Given the show’s track record of blending military life with sharp, character-driven comedy — a genre with roots stretching back to earlier hits like Reply 1988 — expectations are high heading into the new season.
