Netflix’s “Teach You a Lesson” Drops Tomorrow — Here’s Why This Korean Drama About a Government School Taskforce Could Be June’s Best Binge!

What if the government sent a squad of no-nonsense inspectors into the most chaotic schools in Korea to restore order — using whatever means necessary? That’s the glorious premise of “Teach You a Lesson,” Netflix’s new 10-episode K-drama dropping June 5, and everything about it screams instant binge-watch.

Teach You a Lesson: Series Overview

What Is “Teach You a Lesson” About?

“Teach You a Lesson” is a series about the fictional Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB), a government task force created to restore teachers’ authority in an era of unruly students, demanding parents, and struggling schools.

It’s a premise that feels ripped straight from today’s headlines — and in Korea, where debates around education, student rights, and teacher burnout are very real and very heated, this story lands with particular weight. For broader context, Wikipedia’s overview of education in South Korea shows just how deeply these tensions run in Korean society.

3 Reasons This Is a Must-Watch

1. A Genre-Blending Storytelling Style You Won’t Expect

“Teach You a Lesson” combines satisfying storytelling, thought-provoking messages, and emotionally rich character arcs. The inspectors bring humour as they cleverly tackle problems in troubled schools, while the series’ bold action sequences deliver thrilling and cathartic moments. With its fast-paced narrative and constantly shifting tone, the drama promises to keep viewers engaged from start to finish.

Comedy, action, social commentary, and emotional depth — all in a school setting. That tonal range is very hard to pull off, and the fact that the director behind Juvenile Justice is at the helm suggests it will land.

2. Four Completely Different Characters With Magnetic Chemistry

Kim Moo Yeol stars as Na Hwa Jin, a no-nonsense inspector known for delivering swift and satisfying justice. Lee Sung Min plays Choi Kang Seok, the Minister of Education who founded the ERPB, anchoring the story with commanding charisma. Jin Ki Joo takes on the role of Im Han Rim, a former special forces soldier turned inspector whose unpredictable personality and bold charm add excitement. P.O plays Bong Geun Dae, an original character created specifically for the drama adaptation.

Four distinct personalities, four different approaches to the same problem. The team dynamics alone are reason enough to tune in.

3. A Creative Team With an Impeccable Track Record

Director Hong Jong Chan is known for socially conscious works such as “Juvenile Justice” and “Dear My Friends.” Writer Lee Nam Kyu has earned praise for capturing reality with warmth and sharp insight in dramas including “Daily Dose of Sunshine” and “The Light in Your Eyes.”

Director Hong Jong Chan explained the series’ core philosophy: “Rather than a simple story of good versus evil, ‘Teach You a Lesson’ is about standing on the side of victims and working toward solutions.” Writer Lee Nam Kyu added that the focus was on making every character feel genuinely human so viewers could empathize with all of them — not just the heroes. soompi
