Netflix has a new supernatural drama in the works, and it’s already got a genuinely unsettling hook. Pagans, created by showrunner Joshua Zetumer (known for Say Nothing), follows a widowed father raising two kids — one perfectly normal, and one, his daughter Alice, who is anything but. Filming kicks off in New York this fall, and here’s everything confirmed so far.

The series blends horror, dark comedy, and raw emotion to explore the thoughts parents secretly have but never say out loud — then pushes that idea into genuinely supernatural territory once Alice’s true nature starts to surface.

What’s Pagans Story?

The official synopsis describes a man who becomes sole caretaker of his two children after losing his wife. While his son is ordinary, his daughter Alice is described as strange from the start — and what begins as a tense father-daughter dynamic soon spirals into something far darker. The show promises to be equal parts emotional, horrifying, and unexpectedly funny.

A now-expired casting call painted Alice as an introverted, blunt, vegan 12-13-year-old who struggles to connect with people, retreats into her own world, and is quietly wrestling with disturbing impulses she doesn’t fully understand yet.

Who’s Behind It

Zetumer co-writes alongside Clare Barron, Eboni Booth, Joe Murtagh, and Olivia Dufault, with Victor LaValle producing. Drew Goddard’s Goddard Textiles banner is backing the project, with Goddard and Sarah Esberg executive producing and Andrea Massaro as co-EP. It’s moving through Netflix’s studio group under Nne Ebong.

When Will It Actually Air?

With a six-month shoot wrapping in April 2027, a 2027 debut is unlikely. Realistically, expect Pagans to land sometime in early-to-mid 2028, pending confirmation once Netflix reveals its 2027 slate.
