The Witcher Season 5: Geralt’s Final Ride Slips to 2027, and Here’s What’s Coming

Geralt’s final adventure will have to wait a little longer. The Witcher Season 5, the show’s last chapter, has quietly moved into 2027, and Netflix hasn’t announced an exact date. The wait is long, but the story ahead is huge.

What Will The Witcher Season 5 Cover?

The final season is expected to adapt the closing books of Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga, The Tower of the Swallow and The Lady of the Lake. After a scattered Season 4, the family of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer finally heads toward reunion.

• Geralt: After deserting Queen Meve’s ranks, he is pursued by her soldiers, and his path eventually leads to the duchy of Toussaint.
• Yennefer: She lands safely on the Skellige Isles, which brings her storyline closer to the books.
• Ciri: Captured by Leo Bonhart, she is forced into gladiatorial combat, then escapes and is hunted, setting up the book’s frozen-lake showdown.

The Witcher Season 5 : Overview

New Faces and Returning Favorites

More than 25 new cast members join the story, including Ellie Taylor as Duchess Anna Henrietta, Emily-Jo Young as Shani, and Kate Dickie as Priestess Sigrdrifa. Sharlto Copley and James Purefoy return as villains, and fan favorites like Lambert, Coën, and Yarpen Zigrin are back too.

Why the Delay?

Netflix originally pointed to late 2026. According to the source report, the delay reflects heavy VFX work for the final battles and a crowded year for rival fantasy shows. Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has said the plan is to land the books’ ending rather than go beyond it.

Season 4 saw a steep viewership drop, so this finale carries high stakes for The Witcher franchise
