Netflix Teases Two French Book Adaptations at a Paris Book Festival, and the Sales Data Is Striking

What happens when a streaming giant throws a book festival? You get musical readings, drawing workshops and a few juicy hints about upcoming shows. Netflix has just done exactly that in Paris, and it came with some eye-opening numbers.

Netflix Event : Overview

Two Series Teased

Netflix’s VP of French content, Pauline Dauvin, highlighted two upcoming projects:

• Les Brumes: A mystery thriller based on Olivier Norek’s books, co-written and directed by Alexandre de La Patellière and Mathieu Delaporte. It’s on track for 2027, with Pio Marmaï playing hero Victor Coste. Norek was due at the event for a Q&A.
• La Part du Mal: Based on the Malin Fors books, with first images showing Cécile De France, Grégory Gadebois and Simon Abkarian. No premiere date has been announced.

Asked about sequels, Dauvin noted that there are four more Victor Coste books, adding that the more subscribers love a show, the more Netflix will want to adapt.

The “Netflix Effect” on Book Sales

A NielsenIQ BookData study surveyed 1,500 readers aged 13 and over. Here’s what it found:

• 64% said they became interested in the source material.
• 48 of 58 Netflix adaptations since 2017 were linked to a rise in book sales.
• 9 billion views worldwide in 2025 for this type of programming.

Even the little “N” sticker on book covers ranked fourth among factors that attract buyers, behind best-seller status, awards and famous names.
