If you’ve opened Netflix on your phone lately and noticed it looks… different, you’re not imagining things. On April 30, 2026, Netflix launched the most sweeping update to its mobile app in years — and the headline feature is a vertical video feed called Clips that’s designed to feel like TikTok, but smarter about what it shows you.

Netflix Mobile Overhaul — What’s New at a Glance

Feature	What Changed

Bottom Navigation	Simplified to 4 tabs: Home, Clips, Search, My Netflix
New & Hot	Moved to top nav — not removed
Netflix Games	Downgraded to drop-down menu
Clips Feed	New personalized vertical video discovery feed
Rollout Date	April 30, 2026

What Exactly Is the ‘Clips’ Feed?

Clips is a personalized vertical video feed pulling from Netflix’s entire catalog of licensed and original shows, movies, live events, and even behind-the-scenes marketing content.

Think of it as Netflix’s answer to Instagram Reels and TikTok — but with one crucial difference in philosophy. Netflix’s success metric for this feature is not endless scrolling. The goal is to get you to act — whether that’s adding a title to your list, jumping to its details page, or sharing a clip with a friend to build what Netflix is calling “fandom.” whats-on-netflix

The personalization is impressively granular. It doesn’t just know what shows you like; it knows what aspects of them you like. If two different users both love BTS, the feed could serve them completely different clips — one might get a music documentary snippet, another gets a live event clip — all based on individual watch habits and behavior. whats-on-netflix

Each clip comes with genre tags, synopses, and timestamps so you always know what you’re watching — a thoughtful touch that TikTok doesn’t bother with.

What’s Missing (For Now)?

It’s a strong launch, but not without gaps. Features you take for granted on TikTok and Instagram — like being able to fast-forward or rewind easily — aren’t here just yet, but are reportedly in the pipeline. There’s also no social element: no reactions, no comments. The comment section is arguably what makes TikTok addictive, so its absence here makes Clips feel a bit like a solo experience for now. whats-on-netflix

Coming soon: Collections — letting you dive into specific genres like reality TV drama, comedy, WWE, or romance — will add another layer of intentional browsing to the feed. whats-on-netflix
