A perfect bride, a chaotic household, and a brother-in-law who thinks she might be a witch. That’s the setup for Nayyi Navelli, and it’s a long way from Yami Gautam’s recent serious roles.
What Is Nayyi Navelli About?
Set in Meerut, the film follows a picture-perfect bride (Yami) who turns a chaotic household into paradise. Her brother-in-law soon suspects she may actually be a daayan, or witch. The makers describe it as a fantasy family entertainer mixing humour, fantasy and family drama, timed for Dussehra.
It’s quite a change for Yami Gautam, whose recent work includes serious films like A Thursday, Lost and Article 370. That last film won her Best Actress at the 72nd National Film Awards.

GV Prakash Kumar calls the film’s sound an unusual musical world. It’s his first full Hindi score, and the composer is also known for his Tamil and Telugu work.
Why Watch It?
A new side of Yami. Warmth, mischief and a supernatural twist, all from an actor who’s mostly done serious dramas lately.
A fresh director. Balaji Mohan, known for Tamil hits like Maari and Maari 2, makes his Hindi debut.
A festive fit. Prime Video India’s Nikhil Madhok has called it the Dussehra film for family audiences. It arrives just before Dussehra.
