With the number of smartphone announcements that followed after Qualcomm unveiled it is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Motorola has come out on top with the official confirmation that the upcoming Motorola Edge X30 will be the first device to feature this new flagship chipset, and will launch at 7:30 PM on December 9th in China.
Here’s a detailed look at what we can expect with respect to the specs, features, and pricing of the Motorola Edge X30.
Design & Display
From the renders that we have come across so far, we can see that the display will be surrounded by slim bezels and it has a punch-hole set up at the center for the selfie camera.
The body is expected to be made out of metal, and Chen Jin, Lenovo China’s GM for the mobile division, has confirmed that it comes with Gorilla Glass panels on the front and the back.
The volume control and power buttons are present on the right side of the device, it has an oval-shaped camera module on the rear with triple cameras and an LED flash.
The Moto Edge X30 (which may go by the Moto Edge 30 Ultra name outside China) features a 6.67″ 1080 x 2400 pixels AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support and also 10-bit colors. This is based on the TENAA listing.
The fingerprint scanner may be placed under the display or embedded in the Moto logo on the back. The USB Type-C port, primary microphone, and speaker grille will be located at bottom of the frame.
Camera
The camera setup on the device is speculated to be a 50MP (OmniVision OV50A) primary lens, a 50MP (Samsung JN150) ultrawide lens, and a 2MP (OmniVision OV20B1B) depth sensor on the rear.
The phone is expected to have a 60MP selfie lens on the front, which is pretty good!
Performance
Motorola has been vocal about the fact that the Motorola Edge X30 will be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It is expected to come with 6GB/8GB/12GB/16GB LPDDR5X RAM options, we cannot tell for sure yet.
The Motorola Edge X30 will have 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage options.
Coming to the expected battery capacity of the Edge X30, it will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging support. The device will be equipped with stereo speakers, IP52 dust, and a water resistance rating.
The connectivity options on the smartphone vary from 4G/5G LTE, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS with dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and GALILEO. In addition to this, the phone was earlier revealed to run on the latest version of My UX 3.0.
Configurations and pricing
Unfortunately, we are not yet sure how much the Motorola Edge X30 will cost, but we can expect to see it in two color variants, namely gradient blue and black.
The Motorola Edge X30 will likely come in a 6GB RAM+128GB storage variant, an 8GB RAM+256GB variant, and a 16GB+512GB RAM configuration.
Motorola is all set to release the Edge X30 at 7:30 PM on the 9th of December in China. It is expected to release with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra moniker.
