The wait is over! After years of anticipation since the 2021 Mob Vote, the Copper Golem has finally made its way to Minecraft Bedrock Edition. The latest beta preview 1.21.100.23 brings not just our beloved copper companion, but an entire copper revolution that transforms this underutilized resource into a game-changing addition.

This update marks a significant milestone in Minecraft’s evolution, introducing copper tools, armor, and an innovative item-sorting system that will revolutionize how players organize their bases. Let’s dive into everything this exciting preview has to offer!

What’s New in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.100.23

The latest beta preview focuses heavily on expanding copper’s utility beyond decorative blocks. Players can now craft tools, weapons, and armor from copper, giving this early-game ore more uses than ever before. Unlike copper blocks, these items won’t oxidize, making them both functional and beautiful.

Major Features Overview

Feature	Description	Functionality
Copper Golem	Buildable passive mob	Automated item sorting and transportation
Copper Tools	Pickaxe, sword, axe, shovel, hoe	Between stone and iron tier performance
Copper Armor	Full armor set	Higher durability than leather, better enchantability
Copper Chests	Special storage containers	Works with Copper Golem for automation
Copper Weapons	Sword and other combat tools	Balanced early-game combat option

The Copper Golem Revolution

The star of this update is undoubtedly the Copper Golem. To make a copper golem, all you have to do is place a carved pumpkin on a copper block. Once summoned, the golem spawns alongside a copper chest, creating an instant automation system.

Copper golems will open these chests, pick up as many items as they can carry, then take them to the other chests in your base, even sorting your items neatly into stacks. This functionality transforms the Copper Golem from a simple companion into an essential base management tool.

The golem’s behavior is sophisticated: The Copper Golem will visit max 10 Chests or Copper Chests in sequence to try to pick up or place an item. If no matching chest is found, it idles for 7 seconds before trying again, making it an efficient but not overpowered automation solution.

Copper Equipment Breakdown

The introduction of copper equipment fills a crucial gap in Minecraft’s progression system. Copper armor has higher durability than leather but less than iron, while copper gear has better enchantment odds than diamond. This makes copper an excellent stepping stone between early and mid-game equipment.

Copper tools perform similarly to their iron counterparts but with unique characteristics that make them valuable for specific situations. The visual appeal of copper equipment cannot be understated – these items maintain their beautiful copper appearance without the oxidation that affects decorative blocks.

Strategic Implications for Gameplay

This update fundamentally changes early-game resource management. Previously, players often skipped copper entirely, rushing from stone tools directly to iron. Now, copper represents a viable alternative that’s more accessible than iron while offering superior enchantability.

The automation aspect introduced by Copper Golems could revolutionize how players design their bases. No longer will item sorting require complex redstone contraptions – a simple Copper Golem can handle basic organization tasks automatically.
