Mediatek Unveils Rebranding of Dimensity Series SoCs: Introducing Dimensity 6000 and 7000 Series

In an unexpected move, Mediatek, a leading semiconductor company, has announced the rebranding of its existing Dimensity 700, 800, and 900 series System-on-Chips (SoCs) under the new Dimensity 6000 and some 7000 series.

This decision aims to streamline their product lineup and offer a clearer naming convention to consumers. While the underlying technology and specifications remain largely unchanged, the new names will provide a more consistent and intuitive experience for users.

Mediatek Dimensity Series SoCs details

One notable example of this rebranding effort is the Dimensity 7020, which has been renamed the Dimensity 930. This SoC now comes with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, providing users with enhanced memory and faster data transfer speeds. Similarly, the Dimensity 6020 has been rebranded as the Dimensity 700, while the Dimensity 6080 is now known as the Dimensity 810.

In an amusing twist, the well-regarded Dimensity 1080 has received a new moniker – the Dimensity 7050. Despite the name change, the specifications remain unchanged, offering users the same impressive performance and capabilities.

Underneath the rebranding exercise, the hardware specifications of these SoCs remain impressive. Built using TSMC’s advanced 6nm process, the CPUs feature a combination of 2×2.6GHz Cortex A78 and 6×2.0GHz Cortex A55 cores, delivering a balance of power and efficiency. The GPU, Mali G68 MC4, ensures smooth graphics performance, while LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage provide faster data access and improved multitasking capabilities.

The Dimensity series also caters to the growing demand for high-resolution photography and videography. These SoCs support up to 200MP camera sensors and 4K HDR video recording, allowing users to capture stunning visuals with rich detail and vibrant colors.

In addition, the Dimensity series emphasizes display quality, supporting up to 120Hz FHD HDR10+ displays. This ensures smooth and immersive viewing experiences with enhanced dynamic range and vivid colors.

Connectivity features are also a highlight of these SoCs, with support for Dual 5G and Dual VoNR (Voice over New Radio), enabling faster and more reliable connectivity. The inclusion of WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 further enhances wireless capabilities and ensures seamless connectivity with a range of devices.

Mediatek’s rebranding efforts aim to provide consumers with a clearer understanding of their product offerings. While the specifications remain largely unchanged, the new naming convention allows users to identify the features and capabilities of each SoC more easily.

As smartphone technology continues to advance, Mediatek‘s Dimensity series plays a vital role in delivering powerful and efficient performance to users worldwide. With the rebranding of the Dimensity 6000 and 7000 series, Mediatek aims to strengthen its position in the market and provide users with a more intuitive and cohesive experience when choosing their next smartphone.
