Esteemed guests such as top Indian gamers Dynamo Gaming (Aditya Sawant) and Rawknee (Ronodeep Dasgupta) attended the event. They had the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with Minister Kharge about the future of ‘Made in India’ games and the support needed by the gaming community.

Minister Kharge took the stage at the inauguration, highlighting the rapid growth of the Indian gaming sector in recent years. He noted, “Despite the industry’s growth, we lack large-scale gaming titles developed domestically. Bangalore, with its status as a leading tech hub, is uniquely positioned to become the gaming and skill capital of India. The extraordinary creativity and talent found within our city’s tech ecosystem are unparalleled. The government is committed to bolstering this sector further.”

The Minister pointed out the impressive rise of 28% in the online gaming segment in India from 2020 to 2023, reaching a market size of 16,428 crores in 2023. Industry projections suggest that the market will soar to 33,243 crores by 2028.

“I am thrilled to see companies like Mayhem taking strides towards creating a gaming title that showcases the richness of Indian storytelling and local characters. I am confident that this will resonate not only with Indian gamers but also with a global audience,” added Minister Kharge.

Mayhem Studios, established with the specific purpose of developing AAA games in India, aims to tap into the country’s rich cultural heritage. The studio plans to immerse gamers through its uniquely Indian characters, elements, and locations.

Ojas Vipat, CEO of Mayhem Studios, expressed the company’s vision, saying, “Our focus is on creating a blockbuster Indian game and leveraging the incredible talent we have in India to foster growth in the sector. Our goal extends beyond developing high-quality games in India. We also aim to establish multi-decade IPs that will make a significant impact on the gaming industry, both domestically and internationally.”
