The brand-new Maruti Fronx has been introduced by Maruti Suzuki in India, with prices starting at Rs 7.47 lakh and rising to Rs 13.14 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the coupe crossover, which made its official debut at the Auto Expo 2023 alongside the Jimny 5-door SUV, are already open for a low price of Rs 11,000 each.

Since the Baleno RS was discontinued, Maruti’s lineup of vehicles has been without a turbo-petrol engine. The Maruti Fronx SUV will be sold through Nexa dealerships. Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha are the five trim levels that will be offered for the Maruti Fronx. We carefully examine the features that are provided in each trim.

The new Maruti Fronx, comes with two engine choices:

The existing 1.2-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine and the new 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine, both of which are equipped with Maruti’s mild-hybrid technology. The former generates 100 horsepower and 147.6 Nm, whereas the latter still generates 90 horsepower and 113 Nm.

While the NA petrol engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, the turbo-petrol engine can be had with either one. According to the manufacturer’s claims, the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine achieves 21.79 kpl with the manual gearbox and 22.89 kpl with the automatic gearbox, while the turbo-petrol engine achieves 21.5 kpl with the manual gearbox and 20.01 kpl with the automatic.

The Tata Nexon is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. It has a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 118 horsepower and a 1.2-liter diesel engine with 108 horsepower, both mated to 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

The Tata Punch is equipped with a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 85 bhp and is mated to an AMT or 5-speed manual gearbox. Soon, it will also have the choice of CNG.

The Tata Punch is the least expensive SUV amongst the three, but the top-of-the-line Nexon costs more than Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom. certainly the affordable tag is taken by Tata Punch rather than Maruti Fronx.
