The wait is almost over! Overwatch 2 Season 20: Vendetta launches globally on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, bringing the game’s first true melee DPS hero alongside festive winter content and major competitive updates.

Overwatch 2: Global Release Times by Region

Season 20 drops simultaneously worldwide at 11:00 AM Pacific Time. Check your local launch time below:

Pro Tip: Both PC and console players can now preload the update before launch, ensuring you’re battle-ready the moment servers go live.

Vendetta: The Sword-Wielding Avenger

Hero 45 makes her dramatic entrance as Overwatch’s first genuine melee DPS character. Known as La Lupa, this Italian gladiator wields the Palatine Fang greatsword with devastating efficiency. Her kit revolves around aggressive positioning and smart team coordination—think dive assassin, not brawl tank.

Key Abilities:

• Primary Fire: Palatine Fang combo strings ending in powerful overhead slashes
• Secondary Fire: Warding Stance deflects melee attacks while advancing
• Mobility Skills: Soaring Slice and Whirlwind Dash for gap closing
• Ultimate: Sundering Blade delivers massive area damage

Unlike previous hero releases, Vendetta is immediately available in all modes, including Competitive, thanks to her successful trial period in late November.

Winter Wonderland Returns

The beloved holiday event kicks off simultaneously with Season 20, running through January 7, 2026. This year introduces a three-path reward system where players choose their progression track, each culminating in exclusive festive skins:

• Jingle Tracer
• Krampus Junkrat
• Santa Claus Torbjörn

Limited-time modes include the new winter-themed Prop Hunt variant, perfect for casual fun between competitive matches.

Battle Pass and Mythic Cosmetics

The Season 20 Premium Battle Pass delivers 80 tiers of winter-themed rewards, including:

Epic Tier Skins: Yukizaru Genji, Celestial Venture, Colder: 76 Soldier, Frost Lich Reaper, Skadi Freja, Cold Front Tracer, Ice Crystal Symmetra, and Winter Guardian Illari

Mythic Showcase: Divine Desperado Cassidy brings western flair with sun-themed golden accents, unlockable via 80 Mythic Prisms earned through the pass. Mid-season adds Orisa’s adorable Capsule Cannon Mythic weapon.

The Avatar collection also returns, featuring Katara Mei, Aang Zenyatta, Appa Orisa, Toph Venture, Zuko Genji, and Suki Kiriko for crossover fans.

Stadium Mode Evolution

Stadium receives major updates with new hero additions (Doomfist and Wuyang) plus reworked power sets for existing characters like Cassidy. A brand-new China Control map joins the rotation, expanding strategic possibilities.

Competitive players will appreciate the rank reset and fresh reward structure for the new season, encouraging climbs up the leaderboard.

Console Players Rejoice

Blizzard is implementing console-specific aim assist improvements based on community feedback. These adjustments aim to level the playing field across platforms while maintaining competitive integrity.

What’s Next?

Season 20 runs through early February 2026, with mid-season content drops planned. Blizzard continues their consistent nine-week seasonal cadence, ensuring regular fresh content for the player base.

Whether you’re diving in as Vendetta, chasing Mythic skins, or spreading holiday chaos in Winter Wonderland, Season 20 promises to be the perfect way to close out 2025.
