Manchester United pull out of David De Gea contract renewal: Onana to be signed as replacement?

David De Gea could be on his way out of Manchester United, with the club backing out of the renewal offer they presented him. His previous deal runs out at the end of the month, meaning he will be free to sign for a club of his choosing.

The goalkeeper agreed to significantly reduce his £375,000 per week wages, and signed the first offer presented by the club. But, Manchester United did not sign the deal and decided to offer him a new proposal with an even lower salary. As a result, it now seems like the player will be walking out and is considering his options.

United do not consider him as the number one for the coming season and want to bring in a player more comfortable with his feet. As a result, in spite of winning the Premier League Golden Glove award this past season, he will likely leave owing to the contract stalemate.

David De Gea expected to leave Manchester United after contract snub

After spending 12 years with Manchester United, the Spaniard is closer than ever to leaving. He has played 590 games for the club, keeping 190 clean sheets. He has offers from Saudi Arabia to consider, but hasn’t accepted any of their proposals as of yet.

The main reason behind United’s reluctance to renew his contract is due to Erik Ten Hag’s choices. The Dutchman has not been impressed with De Gea’s ball-playing abilities and wants a new goalkeeper that is more comfortable with their feet.

Who will replace David De Gea at Manchester United?

Diogo Costa of Porto was considered an option before the goalkeeper renewed his deal with the club. Now, Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has emerged as the most possible option for Manchester United.

Onana played under Erik Ten Hag at Ajax, and has maintained his quality with Inter as well. The two clubs are expected to discuss a deal worth over €50 million soon, which would see the former Ajax duo reunited at Old Trafford.
