Apple is gearing up for a busy start to 2025, with several exciting product launches on the horizon. Among them are the highly anticipated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, which will feature the new M4 chip. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, these updated MacBook Airs will arrive earlier than other upcoming devices, such as the iPhone SE 4 and iPad 11. Here’s everything you need to know about the next-generation MacBook Air.

New MacBook Air Models with M4 Chip Expected to Launch Early 2025

When Will the New MacBook Air Launch?

The updated MacBook Air models are expected to be announced between January and March 2025, likely through a press release on Apple’s Newsroom website. This early launch will allow Apple to focus on other major product announcements, like the iPhone SE 4 and iPad 11, which are rumored to debut at Apple’s spring event in March or April 2025.

What’s New in the M4 MacBook Air?

While the design of the new MacBook Air is expected to remain the same, the M4 chip will bring significant performance improvements. Here’s what you can expect:

Faster Performance: The M4 chip is rumored to deliver up to 25% faster multi-core CPU performance compared to the M3 chip, making it a powerful upgrade for users who need speed and efficiency.
Thunderbolt 4 Ports: The new models may upgrade from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4 ports, offering faster data transfer and better connectivity.
Center Stage Camera: Apple could introduce a Center Stage camera, which automatically adjusts to keep you in the frame during video calls.

Why Is This Launch Important?

Apple’s decision to release the updated MacBook Air models early in the year suggests the company wants to clear the way for other major product launches later in 2025. This includes the iPhone SE 4, iPad 11, and updated iPad Air models, all of which are expected to debut in the spring.

Additionally, Apple’s recent release of macOS 15.2 accidentally confirmed the existence of the new MacBook Air models. The update included references to “MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)” and “MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025),” further solidifying the rumors.

Should You Upgrade?

If you’re using an older MacBook Air or looking for a lightweight laptop with improved performance, the M4 MacBook Air could be a great choice. With faster speeds, better connectivity, and potential camera upgrades, it’s shaping up to be a solid update for students, professionals, and everyday users.

Final Thoughts

The new MacBook Air models with the M4 chip are expected to deliver a significant performance boost while maintaining the sleek and portable design the Air is known for. With an early 2025 launch, Apple is setting the stage for a year full of exciting product announcements. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the official release!
