Love at First Sight Movie on Netflix: The Rom-Com That Actually Lives Up to the Feeling

Sometimes all you need is a great love at first sight movie that doesn’t try too hard — one that trusts its story, its characters, and the quiet magic of two people finding each other. Netflix’s Love at First Sight (2023) is exactly that film, and it deserves far more attention than it got.

Love at First Sight (Netflix) — All Key Details

What’s the Story?

The film follows two university students, Hadley Sullivan and Oliver Jones, who begin to fall for each other on their flight from New York to London. But as the chaos of a London airport, a perpetually dying cell phone, and previous engagements on opposite sides of the city start to turn the odds of reuniting against them, love — and a little London magic — may have a way of defying those odds.

It’s a premise as old as romance itself, but the execution is what makes it soar.

Why the Love at First Sight Movie Works So Well

The chemistry between Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy will make you forget how magically improbable certain parts of their budding romance are, or how quickly things come together. Director Vanessa Caswill never rushes a moment between them, allowing for a deeper, more realistic bond

What elevates Love at First Sight from becoming yet another forgettable streaming love story is that it gives itself permission to detour into real human complexity in the second act — Oliver’s family situation brings the audience closer just as it draws Hadley closer — before it reconciles its core relationship in its final moments.

The romantic comedy genre has had its ups and downs in the streaming era, but this film is a genuine standout that earns every emotional beat it reaches for.

The Cast That Makes It Special

Haley Lu Richardson serves as both Executive Producer and lead of the film, and her performance as Hadley impresses once again — she quickly develops an on-screen chemistry with Oliver that survives a twisty, emotional, and mostly separated second act. Ben Hardy, Rob Delaney, Sally Phillips, Dexter Fletcher, and Jameela Jamil as the chameleon-like narrator round out an exceptionally deep cast.
