A single word on a toy box has MCU fans doing detective work. New Avengers: Doomsday merchandise has quietly renamed Robert Downey Jr.’s villain, and the title is a lot more ominous than “Doctor.”

What Changed?

Funko’s new Concept Series figure lists the character as Lord Doom. The figure also shows a third costume: a regal look with a Latverian flag on the chest, epaulettes, a European-monarch cut and almost no armor. A separate Bitty Pop set reportedly pairs the same Lord Doom name with the Doomstadt Tower.

Doom’s Costumes So Far

Look	Details	What it suggests
Battle suit	Heavy armor seen in the marketing	Doom the fighter, taking on heroes
Second costume	A more regal design with gold accents	His royal Latverian roots
Third costume (Funko Concept Series)	Flag-bearing court uniform, little armor	Doom the ruler
New label	“Lord Doom”	A man who already rules

A Big Caveat

Funko’s Concept Series is based on concept art, so it may not reflect what actually appears in the film. Treat this as a fun clue, not confirmation.

Why “Lord” Matters?

The Direct points out that a lord already rules, which could hint that Doom wins, or at least claims power, in the crossover. In the comics, Doctor Doom is ruler of Latveria long before he becomes God Emperor Doom, who stitches Battleworld together from dead universes in Secret Wars. The idea is that the armored suit is for fighting the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four, while the court uniform would be for announcing his victory.

What the Trailer Hints At?

The D23 special look suggested Doom once allied with the Fantastic Four on Earth-828. Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm describes him as the smartest person in any room who was once kind until he lost everything he loved. That framing, along with Doom’s absence from the United Nations scene in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, points to grief rather than isolation.

Doom’s present-day mission seems clear: he claims some of his opponents live stolen lives and must give them back. The official synopsis confirms he has an evil plan for the Multiverse.

The Franklin Richards Factor

The First Steps post-credits scene and merchandise already showed Doom with Franklin, the powerful child of Reed and Sue. That suggests Franklin is part of Doom’s master plan, echoing the comics, where Franklin’s power helps hold Battleworld together.

What to Watch For?

Keep an eye on new trailers and merchandise for further costume reveals. If the Latveria setting keeps appearing, the heroes’ last stand may happen on Doom’s home turf.
