Liverpool sign Everton legend Phil Jagielka’s son Zac

Everton legend Phil Jagielka’s son Zac has signed for Liverpool’s youth team, with the youngster set to train with the U14s of the Merseyside Reds.

Phil Jagielka was one of the mainstays during his time at the club, spending 12 years at Goodison Park and making 385 appearances for Everton. Zac is considered an all-around sportsman by those at the club, but he believes that he has a football future. The youngster opts to play as a forward. However, as history has it, positions don’t determine the quality of a player and can be changed at any time.

The Everton legend came through the Sheffield United academy’s ranks before making the switch to Goodison Park in 2007. In 2019, Jagielka was released from his contract at the club and returned to Sheffield United as the Blades came up to the Premier League.

Jagielka managed to earn 40 caps for the England national team and is now seeing out what could be the final days of his playing career at 38 years of age.

Despite straying ever closer to 40, the Englishman’s match-winning performance against Manchester United in the league earlier this season was appreciated through a man of the match award.

Jagielka was the 2005/06 Championship Player of the Year with Sheffield United as the team came up to the Premier League fifteen years ago.

With so many father-son duos surfacing in recent times owing to the coming of a new generation, Zac and Phil could be one of the names on that list when the youngster comes of age to feature in first team football.
