The board found Shanaka to have breached his agreement with Lahore Qalandars by opting out of the PSL and joining Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 instead. Shanaka was picked by defending champions the Lahore Qalandars at the PSL auction for $27,000. But he went to the IPL’s Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for England’s Sam Curran for $214,000.
The Lahore Qalandars had acquired Dasun Shanaka for a sum of ₹75 lakh; however, he abruptly withdrew his name from the tournament on March 21.
