The Curved 4K Advantage
The display uses a 1000R curved VA panel delivering 4,000:1 contrast ratio with 178° viewing angles—significantly deeper blacks than IPS alternatives. The aggressive curvature wraps around your peripheral vision, creating immersive gameplay without the screen-door effect plaguing ultrawide monitors.
LG includes gaming enhancements such as Dynamic Action Sync, Black Stabilizer, and an on-screen crosshair to give competitive FPS players every possible advantage. The Black Stabilizer feature proves particularly valuable in dark games where enemies hide in shadows.
USB-C Power Delivery Changes Everything
The USB-C port supports data transfer and 65W power delivery, meaning laptop gamers can connect with a single cable for display, charging, and USB hub functionality. Add two HDMI 2.1 ports for next-gen consoles, and you’ve got a true battlestation centerpiece.
The monitor supports both VESA AdaptiveSync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring tear-free gaming across variable frame rates. NVIDIA GPU owners will appreciate the G-SYNC Compatible certification mentioned on LG’s official product page.
Competition and Value Proposition
At $799.99, the 37G800A-B undercuts many premium 4K gaming monitors while offering superior screen real estate. The timing is strategic—AOC recently launched competing models, but LG’s combination of size, HDR 600 certification, and USB-C connectivity creates a compelling value proposition for serious gaming setups.
The adjustable stand supports height, tilt, and swivel adjustments, plus VESA 100×100 mounting for arm enthusiasts. Built-in speakers and RGB Unity Hexagon lighting complete the package, though serious gamers will likely use dedicated audio solutions.
